charlie brown
Hmmm, interesting. Wonder what he meant? Action, strings, both? Yet, he seemed to use it, most of the time...when clearly, he could afford any guitar. Probably just "one of those days," when nothing seems to work? So, blame it, on the guitar! LOL Who knows? diverden
Side note. In the recording of Helter Skelter it is Ringo who yells "I've got blisters on my fingers", while simultaneously throwing his sticks across the room.
BlueEpiphone
He seemed mad at the world. I think that song was directed at Paul. I saw videos of George and him both playing their Epiphones live. They had that "Ticket to Ride" tone. I wish I'd taken a pic of my green-apple burst 3/4 sized Japanese hollowbody. A real tasteless sounding thing that played like a Danelectro underwater. Sold (when I was mad like John) for $25.
Supersonic
diverden is correct. It is Ringo that screams it. Apparently they played Helter Skelter like 18 times in a row when they were recording it until they got it right. That's a lot of drumming. I'm so glad they left that on there, I love it. Dave
Maybe he just needed to play more and turn those blisters into callouses.
bonzoboy
I think John must've been having an off day because the Casino is probably one of the easiest on the fingers of all guitars.Since John always used either 8-38s or 9-42s maybe he had tried another gauge of string and that's what was hurting his hands. Hard to guess the context of his comment "this guitar is just crippling me beyond belief" - whatever the reason he didn't throw it away and it remains as the iconic Lennon guitar choice. Probably just having a bad day at the office? StewartB
barton8367
It's good to know it happens to us all! Even the legends have problems with their strings if they have been playing a lot, there's no gettin around it!
