I've always wanted either a Chet Atkins or a White Falcon (OR BOTH). I've never owned a Gretsch, and don't really think the "Gretsch" sound is ME, but they sure are pretty.

 

If it were me, I would consider the trade.

Pre-Fender Gretsch guitars, were all nicely built, and appointed,

BUT..had a much thicker poly finish. Which tended to deaden the

tone! The current (Post 2003 Fender takover) Gretsch guitars have a much

nicer/thinner finish. Some, even have a "Nitro" finish. So, definitely,

check it out, and play it, before you decide.

 

ES-175 (Humbuckers)

The Gretsch Chet Atkins (pictured) has Single Coil Dynasonic's. Possibly

TV Jones' version. Much "Twangier" than an ES-175. But, if you don't (yet)

have that tone, in your collection, could be a match made in Heaven?!
