krock
Ive recently noticed a rather loud buzzing on my Blackheart valve amp. If I put the gain to full and the volume to around 3 or above then there is a noticeable buzzing sound. If I turn the volume all the way down then there is no buzzing. Does this mean I need new pre-amp valves?
Searcy
If you turn the volume up but unplug the guitar lead from the input what does it do?
daveinspain
Try changing your guitar cord. Is there fluorescent lighting in the room where you have your amp? Trying turning off the lights and see if the buzz stops. Are you properly grounded? If you are try lifting the ground by using three prong adapter... badbluesplayer
Could be a preamp valve. Do you have a spare you could try changing out to see if that solves the problem? Usually preamp valve buzzing is kind of intermittent and gets worse when you turn the volume up and play louder. Hope this helps.
krock
Searcy- If the guitar is unplauuged then the amp is turned up then the buzzing gets gradually louder, but is less than if the guitar were plugged in. Dave- Ive changed the cable, its still the same and there is no flourescent lighting in the room. I assume that Im properly grounded because the amop hasnt been moved and the problem only started yesterday. Badblues- Unfortunatly I dont have any spares lying around. I could buy some but I dont want to unless I know for definate that its caused by the pre-amp tubes. Thanks for the help guys
Jeff-7
Sounds like bad tubes to me.
krock
Would I have to replace both pre-amp valves so they are matched . Currently ive got JJ's in, do I need to get it re-biased if I put JJ's back in?
