Elitist Byrdland up for sale

$1999 was the last selling price I recall for a new Byrdland through MF. $2000 or more for a used one does seem rather steep for a used one, but they sure are pretty!

Yeah, I probably should have qualified that with it being above what I'd pay for a used Epi.

The seller does raise a decent point,... to get the Gibson equivalent, you'd be coughing up $7000 to $8000. $2000 for an MIJ Elitist (near mint) Byrdland is a great compromise.

I bought (locally) a very slightly used Epi Elitist Brydland in early 2010 and I've watched them on eBay ever since. I don't recall one ever selling for less than $2K, and several have sold in the $2300 - $2600 range. I clearly remember one going for $2750 around this time last year. The very last new one in Canada sold for $2800 at the 12th Fret in Toronto in 2010 and it sold at that price within about a week of it being listed. Fuller's Vintage Guitars in Texas just got 8 of these guitars in from Japan and I think $2500 is the price. Search YouTube for a demo from Fullers.

So for those not familiar with this particular model and who think it's a lot of money for a 'used Epi', this should help put it in perspective. The Epi Elitist Byrdland is not your typical 'used Epi'.

IMHO I think the fact that the Elitist's are no longer being made (Casino excepted), that there is not only a very favorable bang for the buck to a Gibby, but some value in the limited number that may/may not be available. I've got an Elitist Casino and can say that it is just a first rate, quality guitar. As stated, this isn't your basic "used Epi".

Maybe he should give the "Pawn Shop" guys a whack at it [laugh] [laugh]
