Stock Gibson soundhole humidifier

So I dug this thing out today and decided to try it since my Planet Waves humidipacks have gone solid. The HB Pro I had before didn't come with one. Does anyone out there use the stock Gibson one?

Gibson Montana no longer ships the sound hole humidifiers with guitars. We found that used improperly they caused more problems than help. I would only use the soundhole humidifier if you use a towel and squeeze all excess water out of the sponge and tube. If you do not! It could lead to water dripping out and causing damage to the guitar. I would restock on the Humidipaks if they have worked well for you.

Thanks, Jeremy. Guess that's one of the "benefits" of buying a "new" guitar from 2005. No problem. I did put it in the morning, but had it pretty well wrong out...I hope.

My J-185N came with one of those sound hole humidifiers and the thing must have leaked. It caused a finish blister about the sizeof a quarter on the side of the guitar.A dumb device if there ever was one.

You think there might be a way to reconstitute a humidipack? Soak in water? Boil in water?

Get an Oasis. You can replace the gel yearly, easy to use, doesn't leak and lasts for a couple of weeks before you have to add water.
