Duende
If you enjoy acoustic jazz guitar, Sweet and Lowdown is a great film - it is directed by Woody Allen and stars Sean Penn and the talented Samantha Mortan. This is fun - oh and a very good morning to other fellow acoustic music lovers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhQGTOnzMWs
j45nick
Totally cool! I got interested in 30's and 40's style big-band guitar stuff (always loved the big bands and the American Songbook in any case), and bought my old L-7 to try to capture some of the character of that period. Still working on it, but I love the whole big barre chord rhythm style, and it's opened my mind to different fingerings of a lot of standard chords just to make the changes simpler. I'm looking for solo guitar arrangements of some of the American Songbook pieces in what I would call the early Sinatra style (Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, and even the early Nelson Riddle stuff), if anyone has any suggestions. pfox14
Isn't this the film that Sean Penn "jams" with Django Rheinhart? I remember that being a very cool scene.
Duende
1334490256[/url]' post='1178825']Isn't this the film that Sean Penn "jams" with Django Rheinhart? I remember that being a very cool scene. Almost! he has a strange admiration (coupled with a genuine fear) of Django - at a gig the band are playing, the members' play a trick on Emmett (Sean Penn's character) saying Django wants to join his band on stage; absolutely petrified, he flees secretly! LMAO Awesome film and some great gypsy jazz through out Matt
