Anyone got the 5 star 2011 1930's L00

Those are great pictures Krister! Thanks!

I played one of these at my 5 star dealer during the Gibson event (and hung out with REN!). The L-00 was real sweet. I felt like it needed a few years to loosen up to become legend. Next I played the L-1 5 star Ren signed, etc.

It was unlike any new guitar I had ever played. It was incredible. That extra deep body and the 12 fret neck. I am a vintage guy by would have been converted had I been standing there with 3 grand or so.

Here's *****1003. I apologize for the miserable photo.

The pickguard starting lifting soon after her arrival. I took that as a hint and relocated it to its traditional location. Sorry Ren.

I love this guitar. My first Gibson and she gives me chills every time I hear that tone.

and the vintage guitar bridges are covered in lacquer.

Huh ???

[confused]

Anyway..that guitar sounds bleedin amazing... and the girl playing it in the first vid is pretty special too.

It's one of the strangest Gibson bursts I have seen... but one of the best sounding I have heard on the interweb..

( or maybe I was distracted by the lady )

That's how a sunburst L-00 from 1933 & early 1934 looks. The sunburst is small and barely goes outside the bridge.

The bridges on early Gibson flat tops had lacquer on them. You can see it in a picture like this, you also see some chips in the lacquer.

Now compare that to the bridge on the reissue. There is a big difference in the shape as well.

from what I see the old bridge is thinner than the reissue

Yes, they have clear lacquer on them.

The back corners of the bridge are rounded, and the side edges are rounded over as well. The whole bridge is angled slightly bass to treble side. Much prettier than the new bridge.

If you get a chance you should try some of the older L-00 and you will see the difference.

What?

laquer on bridges ? am i being dumb ?
