jaxson50
BRADENTON, Fla. — Former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dan Toler has died after a two-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, otherwise known as ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 65. Steve Fayette, a family friend, confirmed Monday that Toler died in his sleep. Toler, who is originally from Indiana, joined the Allman Brothers in 1979. In 1982, he joined The Gregg Allman Band along with his brother, David "Frankie" Toler. The Tolers played on the Allman Brothers' 1979 comeback album "Enlightened Rogues." The Tolers also played on "Reach the Sky" and "Brothers of the Road." The Tolers spent the rest of the 1980s touring and recording the gold album "I'm No Angel" with the Gregg Allman Band. http://news.msn.com/obits/former-allman-brothers-band-member-dan-toler-dies

jaxson50
He played on some of the best work of the Allman Brothers. Brothers of the Road and I'm No Angel are iconic rock songs. He will truly be missed, but he will be remembered too.
rct
I'm sorry to hear this, and am not joking when I say I didn't even know he was sick. Saw him times many with the Allmans back then and with Gregg. Recently he was playing again with Dickie in the new Great Southern. rct
trvlr
wow..hadn't heard that. Sad news. The lead solo work on many of the tracks on "just before the bullets fly", is just killer. One of my all time favorites. Blessings to his family.
