HKC
Hi everybody I am currently shopping for a LP DC (I think) and have just realised that the discontinued faded model may very well be almost ideal for my purpose. The reason why I'm looking for one of these is that during a number of recent recording sessions I have used a Casino Elitist (please notice "Elitist", not the cheap ones) and I ended up loving the P90s. The DC model from the 90s have P100s and the older and newer ones don't have a tuneomatic but.....(drum roll) the faded version from the 00s have both P90s and tuneomatic. I am going to tour with some of the recorded stuff and the Casino is just impossible to control feedbackwise so I will have to find a solution and the Les Paul Special DC seems like the best contender. The tuneomatic is essential because I will install a Duesenberger Les Paul Trem II on it and so the question really is "are the pickups the real Gibson P90s". I assume that they are since the faded models normally are real Gibsons but with sloppy cosmetics (meaning excellent to touring). PS I wasn't planning on buying a "cheaper" Gibson, it just seem like the ideal model for the purpose. All the best Henrik Krogh
'Scales
Hi Henrik, if you can't find a DC LP, I think the SG Specials were configured that way too (and not too expensive to risk either)
SteveFord
Yes, those are real P90s.

charlie brown
$880? I paid $400, keep looking. Yeah, mine was about that, too, when new...14 years ago! And, like on E-bay, some folks think they have some kind of special, and valuable guitar. To them, maybe? But, whatever they can get, I guess? HKC
Thanks for the replies. I will keep an eye open for one of these and I am aware that they are in the "below 500 dollars" area. I played a LP Faded some time ago and actually there were certain things that it did better than my own Standard (and all other regular LPs I have tried). It probably has something to do with the absence of curves on the deck. Anyway it is extremely good value for money even though that was never really the plan to buy cheap. It just so happens that this particular model fits my needs perfectly. All the best Henrik
badbluesplayer
LOL, yeah...who'd want that color?! CB That's really ugly. Send it to me for closer inspection and I'll let you know how ugly it is after a few months.
tx-ogre
I bought my first guitar - a 2002 Gibson Les Paul Faded Cherry Special with humbuckers - in January 2003. It was a toss up between that and a Les Paul Faded Doublecut with P-90s. The DC was available in different colors (yellow, black and cherry red). The singlcut LPs came in the same colors and being a noob, at first look I thought the yellow was ugly. But over time, that color grew on me and I have always wished that I had picked up a DC in yellow back in the day to add to my collection. Now you're going to put me another search to satisfy a GAS attack.
