  1. If you paid money for the guitar - you own it. If the guitar was given to you - you own it. Playing the guitar may be a chore, or you may not be very good at it, and this is where the "the guitar owns you" saying might have come from, but it doesn't. I guess it may be the same as - handle your drugs or your drugs will handle you.
  2. Just a measly $450,000 https://www.guitarworld.com/news/1959-gibson-les-paul-standard-burst-miss-swiss-sale
  3. Seems like they were not that great then huh?
  4. What if the tells you he has an Epi. Prior to '59 they were not cheap imports, they were made in America. So I guess If Martin's Mex stuff are cheap imports then todays modern Epi's are too? Huh? But since a family member owns one, its great for the price and the Martin one stinks like the after effects of a bean burrito.
  5. The thing is Epi was Gibson's biggest competitor. They bought them in 1959, and overseas they went to be Gibson's black headed stepchild. They would end up making most of the same shaped and named guitars Gibson makes, but at a fraction of the price, and maybe quality. I sure hope there will eventually be an Epi F5-G Mando at $599.
  6. I guess its pretty much anything that isn't Fender, Vox or Marshall.
  7. I have all the Giles Martin 50th Anniversary deluxe sets except for Revolver. I only bought the 2 CD set that is remixed. I hear more differences with the other ones, especially Pepper and The White Album. If you have your original it may not be necessary for the remixed Revolver.
  8. Hopefully this one works. https://frontofficesports.com/olympics-officially-adds-new-sports-los-angeles-2028/
  9. Its really easy to tell if you have half a brain in your head a Mexican meal from an American one. Same with a Martin. If you look at the pics on the label it says Made In Mexico. The USA ones don't. And I only have a Liberal Arts Degree. Figured that out on my own. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/martin-special-000-x-series-macassar-top-auditorium-acoustic-electric-guitar/l82102000001000?cntry=US&cur=USD&utm_content=L82102000001000--Martin Special 000 X Series Macassar Top Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Ebony Here is an easy game which one below is Mexican A or B? 10. Here is a new one that is the most similar to yours. It has all the same hardware and its only $999 new. And in Italian: Eccone uno nuovo che è il più simile al tuo. Ha lo stesso hardware ed è nuovo solo $ 999. https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Electric-Guitar/USAPF9427/Vintage-Cherry-Satin
  11. 335's are probably the best guitar Gibson never came up with. I would take the BB King I had over any electric I ever owned. Now I just play guitars that are hollow with one big hole on the top.
  12. Your absolutely right, and does any BS we discuss here really matter? I've said it before and I'll say it again. We solve nothing here. We may assist a person who has a question, but that is about it, and most times the question is - what does my serial number mean, or how much is my LP worth even though I don't want to sell it, I just want to know?
  13. Here is a question, does Gibson have any way of knowing if they ever used the same SN twice? Here is the thing Martin did it right. Consecutive number never run out, so that was a good move. Gibson at times had 3 different plants operating, now two, so consecutive I guess would not work.
  14. So Cricket, Baseball/Softball (they are not soft), Squash, La Crosse and Flag Football are going to be Olympic sports in 2028? I've seen about a total of 15 mins of Cricket in my life. I want to learn how to be the Demon Bowler and throw a wicked googley. I rode past a Cricket Green when I was in Barbados. The shuttle driver was listening to it on the radio, and then they took a break for tea time. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/2023/10/16/los-angeles-olympics-squash-cricket-flag-football-lacrosse/
  15. Remember Gibson owns Epi, but they are like owning the real Gucci Handbag or the Flea Market knock off. Other than the Koreans and Chinese making only 15 cents an hour there many other reasons for the huge price difference. You can spend thousands more, or I have even seen new guitars at Guitar Center for $150. How much did it really cost to make a $150 guitar, and at that price you are still supposed to be making a profit off of it? Here is a Epi J-45 at $299 https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epiphone-j-45-studio-acoustic-guitar/423939000010000?rNtt=epiphone j-45&index=3 Here is a Gibson J-45 at $2999 https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-j-45-standard-acoustic-electric-guitar/l28131000002000?rNtt=Gibson j-45&index=2 Here is a Yamaha FG800 at $299 https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/yamaha-fg800-folk-acoustic-guitar?pdpSearchTerm=yamaha fg800&tNtt=yamaha FG&tAt=item&tAv=Yamaha FG800 Folk Acoustic Guitar
  16. Here is the answer I give everyone. It is worth what you want to sell it for and what someone is willing to pay for it. That is it. No matter how much they are selling for used. But the used prices are a starting point and probably close to if you average out a few of them. Here it is translated to Italian: Ecco la risposta che do a tutti.
  17. Common with a voice like no one else's. He even won an Academy Award.
  18. No matter what brand you buy if the guitar is not set up correctly it will not be fun to play. If the action is so high it hurts to fret the strings you will not want to play it. There are many decent acoustics out there that are not J-45 or D-28 money. Yamaha makes nice inexpensive ones. Just make sure its set up so it feels nice to play.
  19. If you think the guitar was made before '77, most of the dating sites won't bring up a match, due to before that year there is no info on the net. You will find Gibson likes to mess with their serial number system and have 75 different variations on how they do it and its always changing.
  20. A common every day criminal. But he did it his way.
  21. Tomorrow I complete another successful trip around the Sun (this will be 57 of them) on my trusty spaceship called Earth, and yesterday my cousin sent me the 4 CD 50th Ann. box set - Rory Gallagher - Deuce. I have been on this record labels site called Esoteric Records and there is so much cool English Prog I never heard of. I got Stackridge - Friendliness the other day, and man are those guys cool and different.
  22. He did and he said this too. I remember Paul talking about it on the Anthology series. Paul was on his (he was Captaining in) boat getting interviewed. Of course, this is a subjective question with a subjective answer, but Frank Sinatra did once say that The Beatles' 'Something' was 'the greatest love song of the last fifty years'. Then again, he also said it was his favorite Lennon/McCartney tune (when of course it was written by George Harrison).
