  1. I feel extremely lucky to own 2 iconic guitars.
  2. I wish I could help you but I'm honestly not aware of those dates - to be truthful I'd actually given up on the forum and just by chance thought I'd try it again and surprise! I'm back in.
  3. Just for the record - I don't believe I was banned by the administrators or moderators - I believe it was/is some technical hitch - when banned like this it is impossible to contact the forum, you are totally locked out.
  4. No definitive answer from anyone yet - I wondered if my email address 'bandscamp' which includes the letters 'scam' somehow triggers something that automatically bans me? But then why does it let me back on again?
  5. Elton's very first album is actually 'Empty Sky' released in 1969 - the self titled 'Elton John' album was released in 1970 .. and is excellent. I believe the 11-17-70 album has been re-released with much more songs than the original album.
  6. Was banned and locked out of this forum again on March 17 - my birthday - as you can see I'm allowed back on again. Haven't changed my user name or server or anything. Nice to be back, hope I can stay this time.
  7. Great looking guitar - I really prefer that version of the pick guard with the border line too - usually the 4-bar bridge comes with the wide white border truss rod cover - would look good on your guitar too.
  8. The IBG Hummingbird has mahogany back and sides, the Dove is maple and I think Epiphone would do a really great IBG Dove. They already have the tooling for the dread body and they use maple on the IBG J-200, shouldn't be too hard to set up.
  9. I would prefer a IBG Dove - I have the Hummingbird and it is fantastic.
  10. Visually there's not much difference between my Historic 1957(on right) and the SJ-200 Original.(on left)
  11. For pure unplugged, straight acoustic I'm not disappointed with my Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 in Vintage Sunburst. But for best value I think the SJ-200 Original is also very appealing with keystone tuners and 4-bar insert bridge. Here's the specifications to compare.
  12. Thanks for those suggestions - bear in mind not being able to log on to this site is very different to logging on and being told you are banned and ALL communication with the site is blocked.
  13. I'm also completely blocked from sending you messages when this occurs - I must have sent over 40 messages using the 'contact us' you can see on the screen - I'm guessing they were not received? This is the 2nd time this has happened - 1st time was much longer and I sent even more messages that were unanswered.
  14. Last 9 days I've had this message on my screen when I log on. Second time this has happened, can someone please explain what's happening? Just disappeared today and let me back in.
  15. Gibson Custom Shop Historic Pre-War SJ-200.
  16. Before the SJ-200 he played a Maton jumbo from Australia in 'Jailhouse Rock'.
  17. .. and the keystone tuners and truss rod cover with the wide white border - visually it's hard to distinguish from my Historic 1957. You can see the UST controls in the sound hole of the Original (left)
  18. I have a 2020 Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 in Vintage Sunburst. I was comparing it against the SJ-200 Original the other day. Not a huge difference - the Historic has a 'Thermally Aged' top, bone bridge pins, hide glue construction, casted pickguard , thin VOS finish and period correct hard case. The Original has a UST pick up system. $1200 difference - whilst I'm super happy with my guitar I think the similar looking Original might just be the sweet spot in the model line up.
  19. Back in 1984 it was Chris Martin himself that came up with the idea of adding extra depth to the existing 0000/M body and creating the J-14 fret. So as nice as the M-36 is, there had to be a reason why he thought it could be even better. Here he is showing it for the 1st time.
  20. There's a guy called Sgt Pepper Who thinks Martin guitars are better His lack of decorum On the Gibson forum Has made him a great upsetter.
  21. Just last week I asked Gibson Customer Service for best way to clean my 2020 Historic 1957 SJ-200 with thin VOS finish, this is their reply, Hi, For the VOS finish, we recommend using a dry or lightly damped 100% cotton cloth only and no cleaning solutions or polish, as the finish can become shiny and take away from the vintage look. Thanks! Jon Consumer Service Gibson Brands, Inc. 1-800-4GIBSON www.gibson.com
  22. Period correct hardcases with the Custom Shop Historic series is a nice touch.
