  1. Might end up as a very fine guitar within a year or 2 - but there's no guarantee. T's gonna cost you - and the definitely vintage sound may be absolutely off. . Then suddenly you find yourself standing with a precious object - not a ditto instrument. On the other hand I don't know your basic situation and wouldn't wanna mess with your lust for adventure. The dilemma is yours. Good Luck
  2. The invisible & unknown traps - theoretically waiting everywhere. An open seemingly totally innocent buffet got me in the Feb. 2013. "A mild pneumonia", said the doc, who was kind enough to come by. Was so weak I hardly could reply "MILD ?!?" Took my hearing as well. 3 specialists was consulted after the pneu had left - "might be moisture in the tiny inner-ear-caves", they said. This nitemare lasted all summer. .
  3. This sounds dire - wonder how the bugger got access to you now while the season is gettin' milder. .
  4. Black will be black, , , , there are reasons to assume. . Best of luck
  5. Tortoise p-guards - thrilling and (in most cases) good looking. Yet have to mention 1 trap : Pixelation. I had 2 HD-28Vs with 5 years between them (2000 & 2005) and the youngest had serious printed mini-spots. So glaring it was that one day when the afternoon sun-rays hit the guitar in the right/wrong flat angle it became clear the pattern was made of purple and orange. The older dreads guard has a more discreet appearance and very cool bevelling all way around - but still is pixelated. .
  6. Yikes, , , the infirmary, nothing less. Glad you're out and gettin' vertical again. Look forward to the comin' A/B. Your ol' pal will of course adore no matter which of the guitars.
  7. Impressive - the old speaker experiment alive and kicking.
  8. Or then again, , , remember how my 2010 45 Std. got some severe big circle-marks on the back in the early beginning - made by own mistake. It freaked me out, , , and a frantic buff-offensive was launched (no experience at all). This guitar had particularly thick/much lacquer (black slime, not nectar, dripped from the neck all summer) and the scratches remarkably fast got under control. Afterwards continuous cloth-work now & then erased the prob to invisibility. Thinking about it, the logic is pretty straight : Easier to affect soft than hardened material.
  9. I too think you are over-sensitive here. Okay, it's a new Gibson and there might some awe involved. But all in all the previous responders sum it up : Play your 45 like an instrument, not an investment object. Welcome & stay tuned
  10. A highly attractive set ^
  11. Understood - those black nut Standard are terrific. Mine from 2010 has discretely grown to the top of the herd. Happens after the quite tight compression lost it's grib. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if the steel-mill Grover tuners were switched to some ovals.
  12. Sure, , , and this is better view to the tremendous feather coat. Easy to see he's pretty heavy company ~ But the proud rooster was never really aggressive.
  13. Neither I am too fond of the cherry red back-sides-neck - would prefer the tomato-hue. This is however a straight looking 1996 Dove, , , which sounds amaziiing. And visually blends fine with the other flyers around it. .
  14. . . . . . 👍 Thanx a lot for that insight - you really know what we are talking about, I don't. But here's the actual vintage semi-crazy cock ~
  15. Hey, , , , wait a minute - I got 1 for sale. A 1959er. .
