  1. I’ve noticed that they hum less also. I have one amp that must be “higher gain” than the others. I get some hum if I get too close. Otherwise remarkably little or no hum. They must be doing a better job of shielding.
  2. It was a P.O. Box in Nashville. I just put a stamp on it & sent it off....... This was for the bass, I sent another out for the six string Jr on Saturday. I’ll see if that one comes back also, It could be a Postal error.
  3. Oddly enough, the warranty card I sent in was returned to sender...... Did Gibson close more locations than Memphis?
  4. A Pair of Jr’s The six string showed up yesterday, it played well right out of the box. The Gig Bag has to go........
  5. I just pulled the trigger on a blue stain JR. I bought it from Guitar Center online. I would have liked to see it first, but they are selling out fast!
  6. The Special at my local GC was about the same color, it sold right away. For the closeout price, you can’t beat it! Great guitar!
  7. Guitar Center sold that one for $189. There were several versions on line. I think one was $169. I don’t really know what the difference was..... The first thing I did to mine was remove the cloth cover.
  8. The bass fit great! It could use a little more padding under the end of the body, but that can be easily remedied. It fit better than I hoped with more extra room than I thought it would have. I feel fortunate to find something this close to fitting.
  9. I took the bass to Guitar Center to try to find a case. They did have a Gator Flight Case for a Les Paul, the bass fit perfectly with just a little wiggle room. I ordered the case I mentioned above, it should fit the same. If it doesn’t, they said I could return it on the spot. I’ll let you know how it works. Should be her in 3 to 5 days.
  10. I have a Blue Stain bass coming tomorrow. On another site a poster wrote that it was 41” long and that some aftermarket LP case did fit it. The only case I found that looks like a possible fit is a Gator GW-LP-Brown case 716408504001. I found conflicting info on different venders sites, so I went right to the Gator site & it lists the interior length as 41.9”. I think it sells for $119. What do you guys get for a total length on this bass? https://www.gatorcases.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/GW-LP-BROWN.pdf
  11. The 2020 Vintage Guitar Price Guide list 1979-1976 ES-335 all colors Trem & Trap: $2,800 to $3,600. I go by this and what they actually sell for on eBay and Reverb to determine what they are worth in todays market.
  12. Mine is a few years earlier, but it has binding also.....
  13. It does look like an early 70’s SG Special. During this time, they replaced the P-90s with Mini Humbuckers in much the same way the did in the Les Paul Deluxe, but using the same surface mount pickup ring that was used on the bridge pickup on the EB-3 bass. Most of the examples I have seen had the “harmonica” bridge. The color could be a yellowed Alpine White or TV Yellow.
  14. If it originally had P-90’s, I would guess SG Special. I believe that some SG Specials might have come with humbuckers..... I can’t make out the serial # but it is a recent model.
  15. Just for comparison, I pulled out my '69 EB-3. Your pickup really doesn't look that much different than mine. The main difference is how the neck is mounted. Your body has an extension to mount the neck further out & the bridge is mounted further up proportionately. The extra feature on the pick guard fills in the gap. Here are a few photos of my EB-3. Your neck heel looks somewhat more like my 1970 SG Special.
  16. It might be the first EB-0 that had a pickup that wasn’t butted right up against the neck. A couple years ahead of it’s time!
  17. It sure looks to be all original to me. The original color under the pick guard is just as it should be after all of these years. One of your pot codes looks readable, but I can't quite make it out. 137=CTS. Next 2 numbers = year. Last 2 numbers = week of year. (Example 1377032 = 32nd week of 1970). The date the pot was made is usually just before the guitar was made. Also if it doesn’t have a “MADE IN USA” stamped under the serial number, that will help date it.
  18. That is a curious example. It looks to me to be right after they had a slotted headstock. It has Schaller tuners & still has the “Crown Inlay” on the headstock. It also has a pickup ring. The pick guard is thicker, more like you would see on an EB-3 but with extra material between the neck & the pickup. About that time, they moved the pickup from right next to the neck to about where yours is to lessen the muddy sound. I’m wondering if somebody had their pickup moved to the location that the newer version was, and had a special pick guard made to cover the hole next to the neck. Or, it’s not impossible that it was a prototype to try out the new pickup location, modifying an existing EB-0 at the factory........ You might be able to peek under the section of the pick guard between the neck & the pickup to see if it is covering up the original pickup cavity.
  19. The bass I bought new, it was marked with a new Gibson strap. The guitar I bought used, the finish reaction was on the binding before I bought it.
  20. I can't say what brand strap caused this. I bought this Bourbon Burst ES Les Paul used. The previous owner must have tucked his strap around the contour of the guitar in the case & left it for an extended period of time. The binding was discolored pretty noticeably by it. I was able to rub some of it out but not all of it. Another example of what not to do...….
  21. Here is an example of a Gibson leather strap (possibly made by Levy) leaving a mark on my ES Les Paul Bass. I left the strap hang on the side of the guitar like I usually did with no consequences. This time it left a mark almost right away. I now leave the strap hang off the back a bit.
  22. I was thinking 330 also......
  23. Hello & Welcome! Les Paul Personals don’t seem to come up for sale very often these days. I watched for quite a few years before I landed mine. Only 370 of these were produced, approximately 50 years ago. Good Luck! I’ll keep my eyes open also.
