  1. Time to bump this thread.

Played our first gig tonight since the drama of our last gig. Our bass player stayed, but we lost the other guitar player. I feel bad for the guy, but it was so much easier playing as a 5 piece rather than 6 piece band. More space to set up and our sound was much cleaner. I could actually hear my own amp for a change.

Place was packed and they loved us. They didn't want us to stop. Now I'm home and having a glass of Sagamore Rye ( or band name is Sagamore Band) and hitting the bed. Played an acoustic gig last night and haven't gotten much sleep lately.

  2. Got in late last night from a strange gig. A nice place called Bar Louie. We were looking forward to a great night with a big crowd, but then the NFL changed the schedule to have the Ravens play Saturday night right when we were booked.

So, a portion of our crowd probably stayed home to watch the game and much of the bar crowd was there to watch it also. Even so, we had a pretty good night and had people dancing and cheering while also keeping an eye on the TV to see the Ravens beat the Chargers. msp_thumbup.gif

Then, just at the end of our final set, with 2 songs to go, the bass player/sound man and another band member go into a heated argument over some feedback issues. Something to do with a wireless unit was causing it. Anyway, we finished the set and they continued arguing during the break-down and the bass player ended up storming out saying he quit. He's one of the best bass players in the state and a professional sound guy who is in charge of sound at Nationals Stadium and also runs sound for Paul Reed Smith Band. It will be hard to replace him.

Oh well, it was a good band while it lasted. msp_crying.gif

  3. Didn't just get in, but got home late last night from a gig in Fenwick Island Delaware at The Lobster Shanty. My wife and I went down to Ocean City the night before and stayed overnight and then I sat in with an old friend who just released a CD of his original songs. I used to play with him about 5 years ago and remembered playing some of his originals, but I had to do a quick cram session to get ready. We did a bunch of his originals and a bunch of covers too. Good crowd of mostly his local friends and family. Then it was a three hour drive home.

  4. Played a really cool gig tonight at a Rams Head. Some of the other Rams Head locations get some major, big-name acts, but this Rams Head Dockside is more of a local bar. In addition to playing 3 set of music, and MCing in between sets, we got to judge a Halloween costume contest. Great night and great crowd. Now I'm gonna enjoy a glass of bourbon and go to bed. cool.gif

  5. 3AM I must be lonely. eusa_think.gif

Just sitting unwinding after a great gig. The Maryland State Fair is happening and place is right next to the Timonium State Fairgrounds. Te weather was rainy and we were outside, but covered. Even with bad weather, there were lots of people and the crowd was great. Fair must have helped.

Now I'll have one drink of whiskey and go to bed. cool.gif

  6. I played a gig last night too. It was with my old band, that I left a few months ago. They got a replacement, but couldn't get this gig covered so I did it. We're all still friends so it was nice playing with them again.

Venue was an old Stone Mill (that's the name too) up in Pennsylvania. A little bit of a drive but it was a beautiful night for an outdoor gig and a good crowd. I rode with the drummer, so I took my smaller Boss Katana amp rather than the massive Carvin and the little Boss was more than enough to handle it.

  7. Just came in a little while ago from a nice Thursday night gig at an upscale place in Baltimore. Would have been outside, but weather forced us to play inside the bar.

We were a little loud for indoors, but otherwise a great night for us. I used my Boss Katana instead of the huge Carvin and that little amp cut right through the mix. We had to compete with the Ravens game on the TV but still had 'em dancing.

No more gigs for a few weeks now.

  8. Can't really call it a gig. But I sat in with on an open mic, or open jam, night at a local dive bar. It was being hosted by a guy I've played with before, so my buddy and I went to check it out. He ended. up leaving before we could play because his wife didn't want to stay. msp_sneaky.gif

It ended up being me sitting in and jamming with some pretty good guitar players, bass and singers, to a pretty disinterested bar crowd. We just played a bunch of fairly simple rock, country and blues songs and took turns soloing. It was still fun getting to know some new people and jamming with them.

  9. Back again from another great gig. This was an outdoor show on the Chuck Thompson ( Ain't the beer cold) Memorial Stage in the Hunt Valley Town Center. We played one long set. One of the other guys in the band just bought a new Gibson 335, and I played it on the last song. It played and sounded great, and I couldn't help but notice it has nibs. rolleyes.gif

After we finished, we all went to a bar in the town center that we previously played. Our server said he remembered us because when we played there last time, he made more tip money than any other night! So we must be doing something right. msp_biggrin.gif

Figured I'd add a shot of our stage.

  11. OK. It's Saturday night ( actually early Sunday morning) and I'm getting in from my 3rd straight gig. Thursday and Saturday with one band and Friday with another.

The other guitar player had to cancel tonight's gig because he had a heart attack yesterday ( Friday ) ! WTF. Being in a band with me is a real danger to your health! He was texting us from the hospital, so it obviously could have been worse. But still..... Coincidentally, he was the same guy who GAVE me that camper we just took to Delfest.

He told us to have a great gig, and we did. Packed house, lots of dancers, hot women...all that stuff. We dedicated tonights show to him. Here's hoping for Mark's speedy recovery, but odds are he won't be in any condition to be gigging for awhile. msp_unsure.gif

  12. Figured I'd bump this thread once more while the Forums are still up and running. rolleyes.gif

It's been about 9 hours now, but I did get back from another acoustic gig at our favorite local seafood place, Crabtowne. Great time, and awesome crowd. Big thanks to Caesar for sending a round of Jagermeister our way. msp_thumbup.gif

  13. Just came in from my 3rd gig in 3 nights.

Tonight was a St Paddy's Day party at an up-scale restaurant/bar called Citron. Had a great crowd including a long-time local news anchor. At one point I think every person in the room was dancing. That was awesome!

You'd think with everyone having smart phones, there'd be lots of pictures. But everyone loads them right to Facebook and I never see any.

Oh well. Here's the sets from Friday and Saturday. Two different bands. Thursday was acoustic and we just wing that one. rolleyes.gif

  14. We were snowed in the last few days(does not happen often) so we put our acoustics on our backs and went down to the local pub,

played a few tunes and had some beers.

Place was packed, we ended up playing for six hours.

Great fun, got to try out some stuff we don`t normally do and I sang for the first time(nobody ran out as far as I know).

Didn`t do any of our own, just covers.

    Six hours! Impressive. msp_thumbup.gif

  15. Been home about 30 minutes from our gig tonight. Way up above Baltimore in Timonium. A place called Michael's. Even though the weather was crappy with this Nor'easter we are getting, the crowd was large and enthusiastic.

Only have one photo mu my Carvin amp with Mark's PRS stacked on top. Also have a set list, which wasn't followed. rolleyes.gif

  16. It's 3:20am here. Just finishing some RoFo chicken and western fries, since the only other thing I ate all day was a banana. Finished up our gig at 1:00am and was driving home by 2:00.

Great gig, but my ears are ringing. We had to hire a sound guy, who was really good, but damn were we loud! Great crowd. Lots of dancers. We brought a singer from another band up to sing a song in the third set. It was "Double Vision". Went great. He had a bunch of friends there and it was appreciated. A good time had by all.

I played acoustic gigs on Thursday and Friday too. My wife thinks I'm burning the candle at both ends, doing this and working a full time job trough the week. But I say I can handle it. cool.gif

  17. It's 2:30 here. Just got back from our first show playing with a the new bass player. It was at one of our favorite places to play. A local bar called Alibi's. Huge crowd. Not sure if they all came specifically to see us or if we just lucked out. My wife turned around and went home because she couldn't find parking. Luckily the place is less than 10 minutes from our house.

Since our old bass player Mike was also our sound guy, and had most of PA, we had to hire a friend of the band to run sound and bring his stuff. Mike's widow actually showed up to the gig, which was nice. I think the band will end up purchasing most of the PA from her.

Anyway, sound was great and we had an awesome night. Did a little tribute to Mike and introduced Scott as the new player. In all the commotion, I don't think I got any pictures.

Edit. I tried to paste Set List but format was all funky, msp_unsure.gif
