  1. I honestly don't remember how we tuned back before the original (square box) Peterson Strobe. The front man/guitar player in a band I was in in the late 70's bought one, and we would take turns.

The 70's are a bit hazy.....

  2. I've been all acoustic for many years, but have owned and used the Peterson clip on for the last year or so and love it.

It reminds me of the old days gigging with 1 Peterson tuner at a gig and everybody would use the same tuner....

Marty likely has some stories about the guitar.  Great stuff!  Thank you!

Marty has opened a museum with some of his collection in Mississippi.  I'm going to run down and visit it one of these days. I've always heard that he has been collecting for many, many decades and I'd think it would be worth the admission.

    Here's the date code chart,

    Yep.

My brand new one is a 2021.

I also have several Case knives that can be dated as well. When my Dad died I got his Case Mako, which I never actually looked up the date. I might do that today...

I carry a Swiss Army Knife...I've had maybe 15 throughout my life.....

I bought my oldest son a "MacGyver" knife because it was his favorite show back in the day. 35 years later, he still has that knife. He's replaced his every day carry, and now it's sentimental to him, but it'll still do the job!

I tell my son that a man should ALWAYS carry a pocket knife.

I bought my daughter a small Case bone handled pocket knife for her first birthday, obviously I didn't give it to her that day. I gave it to her a few years ago and explained that you could "date" Case knives and to look it up and date hers. She smiled when she realized it was built in 1999, which is her birth year.

I actually just ordered a Spyderco Dragonfly for my wife the other day, because she's walking more than she used to. The Small Spyderco knives are very light and carry with a clip in the pocket and I just think it's a good idea.

  7. Had one many, many years ago. I'm a builder, tinkerer, fixer, inventor, repairer, re-designer, used to hunt some, and general all-around handyman. I always have a multi-tool on me and several blades. But, I haven't owned a 110 for many years. Mostly Case, SOG and Spyderco, and as nice as those are, when it comes to the roughest, toughest, handiest one single thing a person can own, it's got to be a Buck 110. I bumped into this at Tractor Supply yesterday and I think it was priced wrong at $59.00.  It's in my "just in case" pile now.

  8. I own and play a square neck, although it's a Fender and use Dunlop nickel fingerpicks. The thumb picks are plastic National and/or Dunlop branded. I also own/play a Recording King round neck, but mostly just use bare fingers for that on.

"Dobro" is a Gibson owned trademark/brand and we have a moderator here who has owned several. He is far more knowledgeable than I about the brand and may have some insight.

    Welcome to the Forum.

  9. A man was standing quite uncomfortably in the corner of his local pharmacy. After spotting him, another customer approached the pharmacist and asked what was wrong with the man.

“He came in this morning,” the pharmacist responded.

“He was looking for something for his cough but I couldn’t find the cough medicine. So I gave him a whole bottle of laxatives.

The customer looked confused, “What do you mean? Laxatives won’t work for that?”

“Oh yeah? Look at him, he’s too afraid to cough!”

Though to be picky Murph, these are young players playing an older style of music

    So wait.

Bluegrass was invented in the 1940's by Bill Monroe.

Rock and Roll was invented in the 1950's . You can decide by whom.

I don't know what passes for rock anymore, to be honest.

At least Bluegrass can still be recognized.
