  1. A generation that doesn't play instruments, has little use for music. It's background noise to many of them. They don't research the finest sound systems, they pop in ear buds. They don't even invest in the music, it's rented and streamed to them at random.

Many of them don't care about music, or give it a second thought.

Played the support set for Tyler Booth last night and all went great.

The headliner, Tyler Booth, was an outright force of nature.   .....alone on stage with an acoustic guitar, there is nowhere to hide and Booth brought it.

To start with, he’s a darn-good writer who genuinely cares about the craft of songwriting, and when he does a cover, he makes great choices. And he has a voice that really resonates. It didn’t really grab me in the videos I’d watched but live, in person, it did. Lastly, he’s a VERY good guitarist.

Most people who knock modern country music don't listen to it. I'm not a big fan of it myself, but I live 2 hours from Nashville and have spent much time there, played Tootsies, the Bluebird, busked Broadway and beat the streets enough to know that some of the best pickers on the planet can STILL be found busking in Nashville for quarters.

If they ever get the idea to go to Nashville and "kick their arse" they'd better eat their Wheaties.

Glad it went good, David. Those opportunities to really showcase your songs come few and far between. You're a great writer and I wish you the best, my friend.

  3. Rosewood back and sides, ebony fretboard and bridge. My # 1 since the day I got it, the reason I went all acoustic (eventually) and the reason I joined this forum, back when it was a different forum.

I play this guitar every day, it's never had a neck reset, or a fret job, although it's getting close for the frets. The fact that I play all over the neck I believe is how I've avoided the fret job issue.

    They are all wearing together...

I also bought a J-15 to take some noodling time off of it, and now the J-15 is showing considerable wear. I play a lot, gigged last night with the J-15 due to the extreme heat.

Anyhow, the "workhorse" has lived up to its name.

  4. Anybody here got one?

I have an old Mesa "Blue Angel" 1;12 which was my last electric gigging amp. Non master, crank for tone... Fantastic amp.

I don't see myself gigging electric anymore, I have to force myself to remember to fire it up a few times a year just to keep the caps from drying up. I'm thinking about doing some swapping and unloading some dead weight.

I usually mic my stuff into Bose rigs, (acoustic guitars, mandolin, round neck reso, square neck reso, banjo) but can see a scenario where an acoustic amp is handy and I DO still own and use a Carvin AG100D from time to time just for the guitar.

    Any experience with one?

Old fashioned as it seems to be. .

I guess it depends on your location.

We still say "workhorse" down here within eyeshot of Kentucky.

But we also still use words like "vagrant" and "deadbeat".....
