It’s the flubber.
For some reason that word always reminds me of the old 1960's "Batman" series.
Which reminds me. I need to order some dog food.

In all seriousness - was this the slow-mo work of your thumb or the result of some well-measured surgical sanding ?
My guess falls on the latter.
That's 20 years of playing it every day.
Surgical sanding?
Give me a break.

I don't buy it.

Lindley was amazing, and the two of them together was magic.
Indeed.
My favorite Jackson Browne albums are the first 3.

Stop soaking your hands in lacquer thinner to keep them supple...

3/8" sounds thin for a baffle?
But I never built a cabinet.
Back in my electric bar gigging days I used Marshall, Peavey, Mesa and or Carvin cabinets and never really gave em' much thought. I preferred open back cabs for smaller bars though so as to not kill people...

It seems odd that having established the ‘Holy Trinity’ of Tele, LP & Strat, at the epilogue the author talks of the 5 classic designs. What were the other two? He cites the Explorer & the Flying V. I don’t get that.
Nor do I.
Rock and roll was pretty much invented with a modified Gibson ES-295 in Memphis, and the 330/335's surely had a bigger role in amplified music than did the Explorer and Flying V COMBINED.
Granted I haven't, nor will I, read it but it seems to be very narrow minded and forgets, or is un-aware of, actual history.

I like that most of the concert proceeds go to help farmers.
There's much goodness in that.
🙂And ya gotta remember the reason for the first one.
Corporate farms are more of a problem now, than they were then.

A blind comparison didn't even cross my mind. I should have done that to see if the Gibson-philes could decipher them.
We're full of opinions, but not very good with an actual test...

I adjust almost immediately to different spacings. I also play mandolin. And square necks. And round necks. And bass. And a little banjo.
When I was younger, I could adjust to different sized women quickly as well...

Man, John, Neil and Willie are getting up there.
Seeing Bob Dylan play guitar and even some lead work was worth the time. He never touched a guitar the last time I saw him live and I assumed it was due to arthritis, pain, discomfort, whatever.
Seeing these guys "struggle through" NOT because they need the money, or the recognition, and knowing because of the many decades of experience that they are not in their "prime" is a powerful thing to watch. Although I think Willies constant "pot smoking" songs are annoying. Some of us outgrew that phase.
And I must admit something else. I had thought that Willie's kids were riding on his coat sleeves for a while. But now I feel different. I think they are there to protect him.
I respect that.

I believe my guitars "move" with temp and humidity, not "sleepyness".
I tune them before I start playing them, because if just one single string is a little bit off it'll drive me nuts, however the process of tuning them IS actually playing them, so I suppose the act of tuning would qualify for playing the guitar during tuning and then I play them and if anything changes due to the temperature and/or humidity then I will tune them again ad infinitum.
I suppose sometimes strings will stretch, too, but I've never seen one shrink.
