  1. Well the 2016 and 2017 HP line all have more sculpted neck heels which is something pretty new to their standard line up
  2. Hello.. Theres a couple of things that would help... First, you don't mention what sort of neck you want... That can help narrow things down a bit... With Gibson they have a few. Basically you have the 60s (slim taper) and 50s necks (thick rounded)... BUT over the last few years theres been some changes. In 2015 the necks had much wider fretboards than the usual Gibson neck which a lot of people don't like.. BUT if you like something like a Jackson you actually may like them, and cos the 2015s were so controversial one can be picked up for a good price. Then in 2016 and 2017 they went with two lines, one line having a slightly wider neck (not as wide as the 2015s) and robot tuners (the HP line) and the other line (the T line) having more traditional shaped necks and manual tuners. Then after that you have firebirds, Vs and explorers which tend to have a lightly wider and flatter neck than say on a Les Paul or SG.. And if you also mention the sort of price range you are looking at, that may help too.
  3. Tonight it was homemade Green Thai chicken curry.. And lots left over for tomorrow when it will taste even nicer :)
  4. Yeah it is REALLY good.. A friend of mine married a Thai woman... And they lived over here for a few years before moving to Thailand (where he lived for over 10 years)... And she cooked THE most amazing food, she showed me how to do it and even which curry paste to use which you can get over here called Lobo.. Its so easy to make and you get those great results.. You literally just add water to the paste, brown off what ever meat you are using, then add whatever else you want and let it cook for a while (at least an hour)... I keep it quite simple. Steak chunks with onion and potato, extra birds eye chill (4) rice and some naan bread... Im having it again tomorrow.. Even though I may go with a massaman curry this time... Hmmmmmmmmmm
  5. Always been a favourite Sunday lunch and never disappoints. Nothing really beats a good roast but bringing that along with me would have been a bit much.. :)
  6. Lays is known as Walkers over here.. Same company as far as I know... Love Walkers crisps (actually I like most crisps or chips if you like :))
  7. We call them crisps.. And well I only usually eat them with burgers.. Its a nice chip substitute when you can be bothered to cook them :)
  8. Home made burgers.. With emmental cheese, some lightly fried onions, some Peri Peri (chili) Mayo and a tad bit of BBQ sauce on a multiseed bun... Hmmmm lovely :)
  9. Well I can only say what I think.. But yes, when they did the injection for my cat I was there and stroked him till the end to try and make it as easy for him as possible... Was one of the most heart-breaking moments of my life.. But I had to be there for him and wouldn't have had it any other way.. And secondly... I think that if you lead the sort of lifestyle where you arnt around much, its not really fair to get a dog.. If you have someone the dog can stay with when you are away that's something else, but kennels can really stress a dog out... I remember once we had to put our family dog in a kennel when we went on holiday, when we came back he had a sore on the top of his nose where he was putting it through the cage, never again....... Id love another cat or dog, but im not in the position to in both terms of my lifestyle and at the moment financially... Maybe one day when I retire or something...
  10. I couldn't watch it... My kitty (even though he was often more like a dog :)), Brutus died a few years back... I still miss him every day and seeing the dog in that vid having trouble walking reminded me of the last few days.... I had to turn it off..... Not that I could complain, he lived to a grand age of 20 and was still playing like a kitten till the last week of his life... but it still hurts :( This is him one of the cutest, funniest and fluffiest cats I ever knew... almost more than anything in the world.. man that cat loved to fight :) (as did I)
  11. Home made Thai Yellow Curry (beef) with potatoes and onions and three birds eye chilis, boiled rice and two mini nan breads.. YUM And the best part is that I get leftovers and it will taste even nicer tomorrow :D
  12. We have discussed this quite a lot on here... And actually if you are comparing a 70s era (Norlin) guitar with a post Henry one then they are quite different guitars in the way they are made (pancake bodies, volutes etc)... The thing is guitars are all quite unique.. Each one weighs slightly different and because they are hand finished the necks and set up can vary between every guitar.. There are good and bad guitars in every era.. The thing you HAVE to do to find the guitar for you is go and play as many as you can.. Its the only real way to find your "one".... Even the term good and bad is not really right because what may feel good to you someone else may hate.. Its all such a personal thing... You gotta do the work but its worth it in the end when you find that one you click with instantly... (and you will if you try enough of them) If money isn't an issue for you, maybe look at the Historic collection, I think they are called True Historic now :) They are pretty sweet... I tried the first few CC guitars and I was actually pretty impressed with them (The Beast and The Babe).. I haven't tried any of the True Historic ones yet but id imagine them to be pretty nice. This will have a slimmer neck http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2016/Custom/Standard-Historic-1960-Les-Paul-Standard.aspx And a fatter neck http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2016/Custom/Standard-Historic-1959-Les-Paul-Standard.aspx
  13. CC is Collectors Choice.. I think theres about 35 of them now.. They are copies of real selected 59 Standards and a few other early models Heres some examples http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2016/Custom/Collectors-Choice-35-Vic-DaPra-1959-Les-Paul-Gr.aspx http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2015/Custom/CC-22-Tommy-Colletti-1959-Les-Paul-Custom.aspx http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2015/Custom/CC-5-Tom-Wittrock-1959-Les-Paul-Donna.aspx
  14. Found it online if anyone is interested... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ESLPSTD16LBNH
  15. So I happened across this vid.. Its titled My New Memphis ES.. But when I saw the picture there was no F holes??? And I looked at the main site and couldn't find it... It has an almost flat top. So I wonder. Is it the same as my chambered LP 2008 or made like a proper semi but just with no F holes.. Kinda odd. Very nice though
  16. Hello and welcome... Those pics are way too small to see anything... I know you don't get much room on here for pics.. But what most of us do is use a photo sharing site like Photobucket and link from there.. If you use Photobucket use the IMG link it gives you once you upload and just copy it into the post... Apart from that the best and probably quickest thing to do is email the pics and a serial number to Gibson Customer Service and they will let you know a bit more about it.. Sometimes you get an answer on here but not always.
  17. Hmmm.. well it seems that way doesn't it :) I really cant remember ever doing it... (I certainly had no reason for it if I did it wasn't for any purpose). But hey.. It still plays well and intonates so... its neither here nor there really :) Maybe I will flip it back next time and see if I notice any difference :) (im starting to wish I handt posted it now  :))
  18. Just being honest.... Its possible but I don't think I did it...
  19. Also I do think there is one big difference about having the slant pointing towards the pickups.. Its that for scale length, well when its the proper way round (slant pointing to the back of the body) the point at which the scale length starts is easy to determine as theres a straight edge that the sting comes off.. BUT if you have a small slope, the point at which the string actually comes off of the slope (because of the slots) isn't going to be quite exact.. if you see what I mean.. It will depend how deep the string slots are cut and how they are cut.. But we are talking minute detail here... it should all still work (as indeed it does on my goldtop :))
  20. Yeah, that's my 2011 60s Tribute Studio Goldtop.... And you know what I was just wondering the same thing.... Did I turn it around by accident? (that's how little attention I pay to my personal guitars ) .. But you know what I don't think so... This was one of my later editions to my collection and I knew by then that the bridge and tailpiece will just fall off if you arnt careful and I tend to leave an old string on while I change the others so that doesn't happen... So... its unlikely I would have changed it.. ? (but is possible I guess :))
