  1. Just ordered a Custom Shop Southern Jumbo thru Paul at Music Villa. Advanced "X" Bracing,Red Spruce Top, Luthier's Choice neck, MOP Gibson logo on the headstock with No Crown, small 30's burst - forgot to ask/confirm with him, all the scalloping is pretty standard, right? Hate to think I just ordered a guitar with no scalloped braces.

  3. Hard to say what would inspire me more, the Gibson, or the girl playing the Gibson... Welcome back to playing, and welcome to the wonderful world of Gibson guitars.
  4. Nice job on Fire and Rain guitar work sounds great - really impressed that most of the backup instruments are digital samples, I'm still trying to figure out how to record just one track in Garage Band.
  5. DR: Love it !- the harmonizer gives it a flavor, pretty cool little machine.
  6. Very magical sound. Mr. Gibbs has such a wonderful sound in your hands, loved it.
  7. Ooops or not, that was a good song - nice even sound out of that guitar - sits back nicely to make room for the voice.
  8. That's very nice relaxin' kick back tune !
  9. Wonderful Stuff Jerry - that Nick Lucas is a nice crisp guitar in your hands, very nice style.
  10. Hello John - you'll find an interesting bunch of enablers here. Hope the delivery is on time and you stay up late with the new arrival !
  11. You are going to love that J-45. V-neck - are great on guitars and women's blouses, can't get enough of either ! Love my J45 TV - hope you get your MC soon, its like a little kid waiting for Christmas to come, as I recall.
  12. Like these ! You really put that Roy Smeck through all the paces - fun to listen to.
  13. Welcome aboard Resol! This is a nice place to be, you'll find many J-45 folks here. A 5 string bass? What's the tuning for that fifth string ?
  14. Jerry , nice little tune ! Girls, coffee and birds, mixed with a little Tippy Tippy jazzy swing, very nice -guitar sounds wonderful! A nice good morning song .
  15. MP - nice, always good to have a dedicated space - love the two guitars.
  16. I know what I don't like - skinny necks. V or modiied V is preferred here.
  17. So this crack is about half an inch long or perhaps less? A few years ago I had a guitar that developed a crack like that on both the treble and the bass side, I didn't play that guitar much, and after a few months when I opened the case, the whole neck had started to collapse into the soundhole - almost like imploding - was not pretty, and a rather costly repair. I'd get it checked out by a luthier.
  18. Stlll have it. Sold my boat and bought this guitar in the summer of 2008. Limited edition of how many, I do not know. They were built in 2007. It is an instrument, like the Jackson Browne, that is way beyond what I deserve as a player.
  19. HD 28 (nothing not to love about this guitar, when I die I will be clutching this in one hand, and the J-45 in the other) CSN / Gerry Tolman (kind of a hybrid D-41)
  20. JP - I do not own an SJ200 - have only played on once, on the day I acquired my Jackson Browne Model 1. These two guitars are on different ends from each other on the tone bar. I traded off a very nice Martin HD 35, but I still have 2 Martin dreadnaughts in my stable. It wasn't hard for me to part with the 3rd one I had, rarely got played. The JB is a fun guitar, but it is much rounder and mellower in tone than your SJ200 me thinks. Just to be certain, please do yourself a big favor, and don't buy one of these sight unseen - play one before you sell your SJ200 - unless thats the one in your herd that rarely gets played. Don't get me wrong - the Jackson is a wonderful instrument, I just don't want to see you selling off, and then being dismayed at the difference.
  21. Gruff - the Model "A" has the Trance Audio Amulet pickup as installed by Gibson. The Model "1" is virgin.
  22. The JB model is probably too new to expect much availability on the used market. They are splendid instruments. I can't imagine ever selling mine, and most folks acquiring them are likely players, who don't easily part with instruments, especially at this time, and at the price paid to land one in the first place. I'd be interested in what the production numbers are and have been on this guitar, I get the impression they are getting harder to find, even new.
  23. Moved from Minnesota to just outside Aspen, Colorado 5 years ago. Recently sold a Les Paul and bought a J-45, then traded in an HD-35 on a Jackson Browne Model 1 - and wonder why I took so long to discover Gibson acoustics. Got slammed with a medical issue 30 years ago, and stopped playing for 20 years. Now I live in the Rockies, play my guitars every day - at nearly 8,000 feet - at that elevation everyone's always high. Smile Fierce !
