  1. Great Thread! It will be in the last place you look!
  2. Are you saying American Companies, their Employees or People who represent them & put programs on Computers are exempt from Laws? Where is it written an American Citizen needs to do anything to be allowed Freedom of Speech in America? Anywhere. Including on a Computer.. Common sense, good judgment & courtesy should be exercised.. But, disagreeing about things, asking questions, debating & sometimes pushing back when you think your point about a subject is valid, correct & matters should not be cause for someone to be banned? We’re all big Boys.. You gotta have thick skin once in a while.. I think in most cases Threads should be allowed to play out..
  3. For asking a question? Seriously? I’m not directing this statement to those who live outside the U.S.A. Because, your Countries laws may be different.. There are Countries that “Freedom of Sppeech” isn’t allowed.. I’m directing this statement to American Citizens.. I really find it hard to believe that Gibson Inc., it’s CEO & their Board of Directors wants to allow a Forum using their “Name” that doesn’t allow the Freedom of Speech in America…
  4. I used to own a mint beautiful vintage real 1959 Gibson ES345. I was naive, didn’t know much about Guitars & foolishly sold it… I didn’t know what I had.. A few years later I owned a Dot & it was a really nice Guitar.. But, it didn’t sound as good as that old 59 ES345.. So, I sold it & bought one of the last Memphis Gibson ES335’s… It’s a great Guitar.. Not the 59 I had but a very good Guitar.. Some of the Epiphone 335 Dots are really nice & some have good sounding Pickups. Some. Not all. I’ve played some really good Pro models.. You really have to try them out to know.. The same can be said about Gibson ES335’s.. But, consistently, they are beautifully built with all the best materials, techniques & have great Pickups.. It depends on what Pickups you like… There are so many variations. They all sound good.. It usually comes down to which Pickups sound best to you…
  5. You should’ve seen me in the 60’s! I apologize to all for being curious about stuff..
  6. Oh, Wow! I ask a question & get… “Not you!”.. All I did was ask a question.. What have I done to you? I was curious whose Forum this is? And you get all cut & dried about it! Ok…….
  7. I thought I read in a previous Thread discussion it isn’t? Is it or isn’t it? Seems like a fair question.. If not, Who moderates the Mod’s? I’m just curious..
  8. If it bugs the OP that much why not sell it & buy another one with all the proper things that go with it?
  9. Which is why I decided not to go… I don’t think Gretsch was there either… The only 3 Guitar companies I wanted to see & try out for my next NGD…
  10. It’s been so long I’m going to re-watch all of Peaky Blinders.. Then the new Season.. I watch Docs on History Channel. As well as all things Music related.. I just re-watched Concert for George & a Roy Orbison Documentary.. I’ve never watched Across The Universe & am watching it now.. A little corny in the story line but the music is really well done so far.. I wish someone would come up with a TV Series about Guitars & Amps. I’d love to be a part of a Show like that.. It’s a Series that could be literally endless!
  11. Congrats! Great looking Ax! Enjoy!
  12. People are way more savvy now especially when it comes to older Gear.. Now called "Vintage" or "Collectors" etc.. They're offered For Sale most often on the newer Platforms.. Craigs List, EBay, Reverb.com etc... Back in '69 I gought a mid 50's Gibson LP in a Wash. D.C. Pawn Shop for $76.00.... That ain't happening anymore.... Very few real deals on old Guitars anymore...
  13. Yes, Like Gibson, Fender, Gretsch & Guild who started manufacturing outside the USA years ago, Martin does build lower end Guitars outside the USA.. I believe they started about 1990.. Martin was the last to follow suit but competition in Business dictated… I believe all Martin D-15’s & higher are USA built.. Probably shouldn’t over talk Martin’s on the Gibson Forum.. Some People will get touchy… Truth is there are many fine Builders of Guitars though… It’s a joy to own some of each….
  14. I agree with Collings. I would own one of them… The others I’m not familiar enough one way or the other.. But, Collings for sure..
  15. Thanks!! I might need that!! LOL!! But Seriously, I own quite a few more Gibson & Epiphone Acoustic Electric & Electric Guitars than any other Maker... I know first hand Gibson has built their fair share of High Quality Acoustic Guitars.. Love mine.. Bozeman builds as fine an Instrument as Money can Buy IMO.... Acoustic Guitars are laborious & take a lot of time to Build.. Particularly, really good ones!!!!
  16. I have been.. I only make the comp to Tele’s & LP’s for those who may not know how long it takes to build Acoustic Guitars thereby making uninformed comments about making millions of Guitars…
  17. Building high quality Acoustic Guitars is nothing like building a Telecaster or a Les Paul… Numerous Tele’s & LP’s can built in the time it takes to build a really high quality Acoustic Guitar.. Roughly 12,500 Really high quality Guitars a year average for aprox. 200 years.. That seems like quite a feet to me.. I’m not aware of anyone else on the Planet who has done that? Seems Martin stands alone in this Achievement… Nothing against Gibson, Guild or other fine Builders of Acoustic Guitars. Martin is & has always been the Bar by which all High Quality Guitar makers are measured….
  18. I read it slowly enough, I was referring to….. The 2.5 million Guitars built being a Paltry amount comment.. I should’ve been more clear.. Apologies!
  19. Yeah, it’s probably ok. Especially since they’re “Double” Albums….. Ba Ba Ba…..Boom!
  20. Fortyyearspickin. That may be an indication who builds more right there.. I thought the backstory about the 2.5 millionth Guitar was quite interesting.. Particularly the rare Figured Rosewood part.. I’ve never seen Figured Rosewood on a Guitar before.. I’m always amazed at how one can take raw materials & turn them into Works of Art.. Especially when paying tribute to Someone who did something truly amazing… By the way, do you change your name every year? Like, Fortyoneyearspickin? 😆
  21. I’m curious if there is an actual source for how many Gibson Acoustics have been built since their inception.. It’s one thing to say they built more Acoustic Guitars than Martin but it’s another provide the Source to back it up.. Maybe they did? I’m not knocking Gibson. I have more than a couple & love them… I love my Martins too. No way do I think one is superior to the other.. Just different.. Both are best of the best Companies to work in my experience as well… I’m just curious….
  22. Not since 1964 but the past 190 years… Total.. Where are you getting your information pertaining to the total number of Gibson “Acoustic” Guitar Sales since their beginning? I can’t find it?
  23. 2.5 million Guitars… I think they’ve figured it out.. This is a unique piece indeed.. One I doubt anyone here can afford to add to their Investment Collection…. May not be to everyone’s taste but Lord knows Gibson has their fair share of strange Guitars..
