  1. Poitier's filmography is chock full of excellence in screen acting.  Although I didn't like all the movies he was in, he was usually the only good thing about the ones I didn't like.   So-----

Let's "all stands up" and salute Mr, Schmidt,  the one who built the "schappell"!  [wink]

    A-men!

  2. A dumb hick kid went to try out for his school's football team.  The coach handed him a football and asked,

"Son, do you think you can pass this?"

The kid looked shocked and said,

"Heck.  I don't think I can even SWALLER it!"

Our Son and Daughter-in-Law have in addition to four cats, two dogs. A Shiba Enu, and a Golden Retriever. Both are useless as guard dogs as they get excited and run to greet anyone who comes to the door.

The Golden gets so excited thst he grabs shoes and takes them to whoever comes in. So if robbers did invade their home, in addition to anything else they stole, they would have the pick of their shoes, courtesy of Finney, the Golden.

One brother in law of mine has four German pointer/Lab mixed whose excitement when people come in the house can be as dangerous as any other dog's aggressive protection.  The four of them jumping at and on you all at once can be more than most mortal men can handle  [wink]

  4. Sparq, you mentioned this was a past marriage?  Well, lucky for her you're out of her life and vice versa.    But I'm not clear on whether there were problems before she read that book or not.   And too, there's some insight in an old adage:

"Remember, those who are the happiest are not the ones who are getting more,  but those who are giving more."   [wink]

So, where did either of you fit in that thought?

  5. While traveling with his apostles, Jesus came upon a small shop in a village and thought to go in and ask for some water and directions.  He entered the shop without closing the door behind Him.  The proprietor pointed at the open door and angrily asked Jesus;

"Hey buddy! Were  You born in a BARN?"

That is funny! I got a chuckle out of that one. Problem is, I'd be strumming away in the air and singing way off key as I cannot hardly hear myself without the aides and Deb would grab one of my guns, (As I'm a collector of them,) and shoot me in the head to shut me up? LOL

Well, I sing way off key, and my hearing is just fine.  [wink]  So at least, YOU have a good reason for it.

Does this guitar have a navigation system too?

Hey!  Maybe soon someone will develop the autonomous guitar, so all one has to do is turn it on, put their hands in their pockets and let the guitar do all the rest.  Like "driverless" cars, there'll be "playerless" guitars!  [love]

  8. Yeah, folks still make annual treks up that way for the colorful Autumn leaves viewing.  My last time up that way was back in the '70's to view the trees.  We stayed a night at a motel in nearby Marquette.

Personally, I wouldn't complain if the temp was 72F year 'round.  [wink]  Day AND night.

  9. Just to elaborate, I'm Polish, so please, no self righteous PC blowback......

What do hockey players and Polish women have in common?

The both wear the same pads for three periods!  [wink]

If bones get softer and I'm sure they do as I have seen older people fall and break some. Mine are probably bad now being that they took so much bone marrow out Haha.

Getting old is when ALL the bones get soft. Especially one, which no amount of Vitamin D can help.  [wink]  And which is obvious because "old" is years beyond "middle age".  And as I always say....

The way you know you've reached "middle age" is when you wake up in the morning, and it's your BACK that's stiff!  [tongue]

    Funny thing about the humidity.

I had a gig in Colorado that lasted a few weeks. I flew home on the red-eye, landed in West Palm Beach and when I deplaned I hit the Jetway, it had just rained, and that warm, human air, hit my nose and lungs, and I noticed myself smiling - this feels like home!!!

Pensacola is OK, it has some nice beaches. Down on the peninsula, we call that part of Florida, LA (Lower Alabama). 😄

I like the southeast coast the best, because when the weather gets hot, we get the trade winds blowing from the east to keep things from getting too hot.

The coldest I've ever been was in Ishpeming, Michigan. We gigged at a bar that was halfway between Northern Michigan University and K.I.Sawyer Air Force Base. It's where the single, young people came to party.

On a day off, the guitarist, a couple of girls we met, and myself were driving and my car quit. It was 35 below zero (Farenheit), a blizzard just passed, and the wind was gale force. We were about a mile from the nearest anything that was a bowling alley. We walked there, called a friend to get rescued, and had my car fixed the next day. It was a bad solder connection on the ignition switch.

Back in Florida, my attitude is "anything under 70F is too cold for man or beast"

    Notes ♫

Yeah, it can get mighty cold up in that part of MI.  But I gotta know-----

What made you sure it wasn't inhuman air?  [wink]
