  1. I don’t have a static problem on any of my Gibson’s but I keep and use them in a humidity controlled room.
  2. You read it correctly. I do have a 2018 Gibson RD 40th anniversary model. I will likely cancel the order and scoop one up on Sam Ash. Seems to be a popular guitar. The Gibson has some significant cosmetic issues so I really suspect it will blow the Gibson away.
  3. Unfortunately it is sitting in back order now. I really want the guitar for the shape and I am a Malia fan. Looking at the Guitar Center website it shows that the current back orders are pushed out to June. I hope that I am not waiting that long.
  4. Awesome picture you found of someone else’s guitar to share!
  5. Well until then he can keep using white out or sharing pictures of guitars with real binding I guess.
  6. Ok Rev 6, $50 USD. Final offer.
  7. Hey Rev 6, I will give you a hundred dollars now for that scratch and dent. Deal?
  8. Our friend Rev 6 is just a troll. His tribute with the fake binding is now worth a fraction of what he paid for it and probably less than that Malia RD would sell for used but oh well.
  9. I have gone and done it. I have ordered guitar number 100. My wife will kill me but oh well. . . The next guitar coming my is a Lee Malia RD Artisan that I have ordered from Guitar Center. I have high hopes for this guitar. My objective is to do a shootout video comparing a 2018 Gibson RD Artist to the hopefully soon to be delivered Epiphone. I really am optimistic that the quality will be very nice on the Epi and want to see if it is on par with the Gibson or who knows, maybe superior. Has anyone out there played one of the Malia RD Artisans yet? What are your thoughts? Will I be disappointed going from a Gibson down to an Epi? Will it have neck dive (asking for Revolution Six)? I can't wait to get my hands on it to do a comparison.
  10. "Over and Over and Over" by Jack White. Great use for my Pog.
  11. Doesn’t get more high tech than that... No nibs to deal with.
  12. I guess I don’t need the HP heel as I have 19 Gibson Les Pauls in my collection currently and the heels don’t hinder me. If the heel helps you play, enjoy your HP. I am not sure you read responses before replying to them. Reading Pin’s reply to you I don’t get how you perceive he is not interested in any new Gibsons. Just as an FYI, Gibson has dropped all HP models except for LP and SG Standards. Perhaps if you want to stock up on nib free guitars, now is the time to scoop up some 16 and 17 models on clearance.
  13. I don’t think the HPs get much love because of the tuners. Personally I am a fan of the HP lineup and have a HP SG and a Firebird Studio. I can’t convince myself that a HP Les Paul is a need.
  14. Interesting article from Gibson on the differences in fret board materials. http://www.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Gear-Tech/en-us/Know-Your-Fingerboards.aspx
  15. I would pass on a SG Standard from a private seller for $850 period. Stores sell them used for that with a guarantee.
  16. The quality control issues on Gibson guitars has more to do with lack of attention to detail on typically cosmetic items. You are doing the right thing going into a store to try the actual guitar you are looking at buying. I have not played the 2018 model but own the 2017 version and that is my go to Les Paul. The quality on mine is great. I would suspect the 2018 is more of the same with a much better quality gig bag for 2018.
  17. I found the Epiphone Blueshawk to be very much a downgrade from a real Gibson one. The electronics on the Gibson are superior and the addition of dead coils in the pickups helps with the 60 second hum. The Epi doesn’t feel anywhere close quality wise to me.
  18. You mean Chinese copy of American Epiphone Casino?
  19. On a more serious note, I deal with noise by using good power conditioners on all my amps. On my p90 equipped guitars there is always a bit of hum if I just use a single pickup.
  20. My Les Paul makes a bad sounding noise too but that is only when I play it. When I hand it to someone else, it sounds pretty amazing. I don't know if it is allergic to me or what.
  21. Can you post pictures of the actual pickups you took out of the guitar and post them?
