Bridge rattle gone!

Well, it really didn't sound like the rattling was coming from the bridge. I decided - what the heck ... try the clear nail polish thing. No more rattle!

Also, tried a set of Elixer Nanoweb 10-46 strings on the Casino and they feel and sound great. I usually use a wound G string but this set came with a regular unwound .017 so I left it on because it's coated with the anti-rust thing. I had a problem getting the G string intonated even with the saddle piece screwed all the way toward the tailpiece. What I did was remove that saddle and reverse it which gave me a bit more room. It's now intonated fine.

Your Casino looks good to memsp_thumbup.gif. Flipping the saddle around to obtain proper intonation is relatively common as I have seen that particular occurrence/condition mentioned several times (probably here or Harmony Central as well as several other forums). It is good to point that out now and againmsp_smile.gif.

Bender,

That's not an attenuator on top of the Fender amp. It's a 1 watt Blackheart tube amp. It's great for recording guitar solos at 3 in the morning. Turn it up to 10 and it's only 1 watt! Play back the recording and it sounds like a Marshall amp cranked (and the neighbors can't even hear it)!

PS - the Casino is full (not semi) hollow.

I missed the "clear nail polish" solution. Can you explain that or point me at a different thread? TIA

My new john lennon inspired casino had the rattle too, it drove me nuts. I tried nail polish , that didn't work. In the end I got the guitar set up properly by a guitar tech. No rattle. When I recently changed strings the bloody rattle came back. So back to the tech again.

I just waited until it was time to put new strings on. Then ... after intonating the bridge, I applied clear nail polish to the retainer wire as well as dropped some into where the saddles are supposed to sit snug (which they don't). I waited 5 minutes for it to dry. It's clear - you can't see it. I don't hear the rattle now. It may come back but it hasn't yet. If re-intonation has to be done, the nail polish will just break away as you turn the screws.

Great, thanks. I may have to try it on my Dot bridge.
