CJCifuentes
The epiphone sheraton II is a beautiful guitar but people always say that it's cool but not to cool as the gibson ES 335 or another expensive guitar. I've seen Matthew Followill (Kings of Leon) playing a sheraton II, also I've seen Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) playing a Sheraton II and once I saw The Edge from U2 playing one, so... Can the Sheraton be a professional guitar? I mean, does it have that great Quality to play in big gigs and make it your girlfriend to play everywhere? Could you build your own sound using the Sheraton instead of a Gibson? Does it help to change the electronic on the guitar? what do you think? why people always see at the sheraton like a cheap guitar just to play at home. Or are they playing korean epis? haha why are there epis sheraton II that says GIBSON and other have just the "E" logo?
Dennis G
Heath Fogg of Alabama Shakes also plays a Sherry. I have long been a believer in the guitar rather than the name on the headstock. I own Epi's, Gibby's, Carvin, Gretsch, etc. I didn't buy any of them because of the name, but rather the features on each. I think (and obviously so do all of the people you posted) that the Sheraton certainly iS a pro level guitar.
Jeffery Smith
Historically, the only complaint that I have heard voiced against the Sheraton is about the mini-humbuckers. However, some players seem to prefer them. The build quality of the Japanese-made (Elitist) Sheraton is on a par with Gibson instruments, though they didn't have nitrocellulose finishes. I like the Sheratons and believe that if the Elitist line were still in production, it could definitely compete with Gibson.
charlie brown
All those shown (above), being played by "Pro's" are Korean Sheratons. The Chinese versions, have a more "Gibson" like body shape, as opposed to the "generic" Samick body shape. That, of course, is only a cosmetic thing, or preference. Right now, I'd say the Chinese Sheratons are on par, quality wise with the Korean versions. The now defunct Japanese versions, as well as the disontinued "Elitist" (with mini-humbuckers), were definitely on par, with Gibson! My own AIUSA Sheraton, also known as the USA "JLH" version, has mini-humbuckers, nitro finish, and correct headstock shape, to the original Kalamazoo USA versions. It's definitely "Pro" level, in every sense, and absolutely on par with similar Gibson guitars. Personally, I'm one of those, who loves the "mini-humbuckers" especially on that guitar's neck position. The bridge mini has plenty of character, too! Any guitar, can be "pro" level, as long as it intonates properly, plays well, and stays in tune! It's really a matter of who likes what, and uses it, to it's best advantage. IMHO, as always... curnla
I think that new Sheratons are outstanding guitars. I have a Casino and at one time owned a Sheraton. The only complaint I had with the Sheraton was some minor cosmetic issues and that it exhibited a bit too much bling for my taste. I tend to like guitars that are somewhat plainer. However, the playability and tone was on par with Gibsons that I have owned. The Epihone name and where it is made mean nothing to me. If a "cheap" Asian made guitar is an issue for you, buy a Gibson. Get that out of your system and then embrace the Epiphone. It's about as good as it gets for considerably less money. I want to get as many as I can.
Jeffery Smith
Bling? You wouldn't be talking about the "arbor vitae" headstock, would you?
ourtang89
My brother is suppose to be given me a white Arbor hollow-body with its' case. Just waiting until he brings it, by the pics it is a slick piece.
curnla
Bling? You wouldn't be talking about the "arbor vitae" headstock, would you? The Tree of Life on headstock, the multi-ply binding, the mother of pearl and abalone fretboard inlays, and finally the gold hardware are what I was referring to. I actually like it to a degree and can appreciate it. But it's a little like 18th century French decor; a little overdone.
Bender 4 Life
I wouldn't hesitate to take either my Sheraton '62/50 RI ...OR my Sheraton II ('08 Korean) onto any stage in the world. The Sheri IIs pickups have been swapped out for Gibson p'ups though........
