Californiaman
So that was the famous Utility Muffin Research Center I've heard so much about.
quapman
Actually it was the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen (UMRK). Saw Frank twice so when I went to see Dweezil do Zappa Plays Zappa I wasn't expecting much. Was I wrong. If you ever get the chance,, fan or not, you need to see this show. The musicianship alone is worth the price of admission.

quapman
Did you guys ever see this? Yep, But as a Frank fan I guess I should. Thanks to the internet now there's not much left I haven't seen. Although I did see him play the bicycle long before there was an internet. But I will check out that documentary you posted when I have time. I don't usually have an hour to commit online. But I will make time for that one if I can. I don't think I've seen it before. L5Larry
In a land, far away, and long ago...... there were two concerts I wanted to go see on the same night: Frank Zappa and Stevie Wonder. Couldn't be more musically opposed (well maybe not), but I had to make a choice. I chose Frank (I still question the decision). It turned out Frank was doing two shows in one night (I had tickets to the early show), and Stevie was just doing the one. I was driving home after the early Frank show, and drove right by the venue of the Stevie show about 1 hour into the scheduled time. IF... there was an opening act at the Stevie show I COULD HAVE MADE BOTH!!!!! I have also seen the Dweezil show, and it was f'ing fantastic. The fact that Dweez hires a lot of Franks old bandmates certainly adds to the authenticity of the music. If you have a chance to see the "Zappa Plays Zappa" show, and have ANY interest in Frank's music......GO! And I still haven't seen Stevie Wonder live. It's all Frank's fault!
