flatbaroque Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 6 months late or 6 months early? had a go a this old jazz standard from the '30's...tried this on a few guitars and the J-45 sounded the best even allowing for my not so smooth playing..its indeed an all rounder cheers
flatbaroque Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Cheers Kelly and Dan. Dan cheated on the reverb. The zoom camera software lets you add reverb...normally I don't..but this time I added a level called "Jazz club"..which is quite echoey - pretty empty club!.
j45nick Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Really, really nice version of one of my favorite songs. Shows off your voice in a whole new light. Where did you get the chords/arrangement? I'd like to try to work that up on my L-7.
flatbaroque Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Thank L5! Cheers Nick.I used these two lessons as my base camp. They are both in Cm but I did it in Bm to suit my voice. But all the chords just move down a fret...same shapes. Just as an aside one of the best vocals I came across on the net was Matt Damon the actor in one of the Ripley movies. He had all the Chet Baker nuances down pat.
L5Larry Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Great song, one of the classics. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but..... here's my big band doing the song. That's not me on guitar, I let one of my students play this tune. Enjoy!

MorrisrownSal Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 FB - your best so far. Your vocal range matches this song to a T. I also like the reverb in the room! Also on the hijack - holy smokes Larry - way too cool.
flatbaroque Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Thanks Sal!In my limited jazz chord knowledge I've come to realise that because so many of the chord shapes are moveable its not so hard to find the right key for the vocals...just slide everything up or down a fret of two...maybe a couple of chords might need some adjustment. Dave have you confused me with BK? No worries..we are both dinki-di!
