adamlovesgin Posted March 6, 2017 Share Posted March 6, 2017 As someone mentioned above, there are a lot of choices out there for 335-type guitars... but speaking as an Epi ES-335 PRO owner your absolutely cannot go wrong getting the Epi (or a Dot for that matter). They are simply fantastic versions of the 335 format. I picked up my 2015 Iced Tea Epi ES-335 PRO lightly used for $319! I did have to put a new nut on it (previous owner had tired to put a TUSQ on it and completely botched the job)... so i had the local luthier I use make & install a handmade bone nut... so add the price of that nut ($65) and I am still under the price of a new one (which even at full price they are a bargain). old mark Posted March 8, 2017 Share Posted March 8, 2017 A GREAT players guitar...has all the "upgrades" - great sounding hot pickups, very well made but not fancy. AND has the split coil feature...find one on sale and buy it. You will love it. Got myself one for christmas 2015...be sure to get a solid hard case for it, too. BillyGibson Posted March 15, 2017 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Add me to the list of happy, happy 335 Pro owners. Just received my Vintage Sunburst yesterday and got to play it this morning. WOW. After a quick action adjustment and pickup height adjustment, this thing screams. I like to roll the volume back to 8 and play clean. Then rollout up to 10 to get gritty. It's perfect. This has the looks of a 63 Gibson Reissue, but it has the early 58 long guard. And it's 1/10 the cost. I am so glad I saved my money and got this instead. The workmanship is unreal, it's so perfect. There is not one flaw on it. If you're not into logos or Historics, this is the one to get. It pairs well with my new/used 61 Anniversary Casino I got last year. Epiphones are great. Took it back to the dealer and they fixed it. Plays great now. Yeah, I had a similar issue with my Epi ES339 P90 Pro but it was at the third fret. Dealer fixed it quickly and have had no problems with it since. They apologised for not checking it out fully before selling it and gave me an instrument cable as compensation which was a nice gesture. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The neck on this particular model, judging by mine , more of a "D" than soft "C" , makes it so hard to put down. If you want to make it near perfect Larry Carlton Gibson Sig Model, put in Classic '57's for the stock Chinese, upgrade wiring, go for silver top hat knobs & you can't tell the difference. The other two models made in that factory, the ES 345 and the DOt( or at least mine) have slightly larger necks. FWIW, to my ears, the 57's are slightly brighter than the Duncan Antiquities which I have in the 345 - but that can also just be the amp, too. CAn't lose buying the 335 Pro - just wish they had one in trad sunburst. Why they call it Ice Tea instead of Viceroy(brown) as they did in the 50's/60's is beyond me.
