pippy
I googled both versions. The Shangri-la's version was pretty cool for the times. Oh, I wasn't trying to denigrate the original version in the slightest, John. I just find Beck's imagination and playing astonishing. Really amazing. Imelda May does a fantastic job of un-backed singing - the whispered 'Remember' bits don't show up too well in the youtube clip but I've got the DVD and it's much more evident how much she puts into the job. And to lower the tone for a second, the drummer has been given just about the best seat in the business... P.
JohnMac
I couldn't agree more. Beck is, well, Beck and Imelda May is so soulful and sultry on that song. I'd never seen the Shangri-la version and was impressed with the video.
