New vs. Old ES335

Apparently, the pickups in the '88 are Bill Lawrence "The Original" models which I know nothing about. The new 335s have "calibrated T-Types" which do not lean as much to a very warm, dirty low end, and have better articulation than most Gibson humbuckers that have traditionally gone into 335s.

335’s come with so many different Pickups in the never ending quest to recreate the Holy Grail 50’s PAF’s..  None have..

There are really good 335 Pickups though… The choices are subjective.. I like the recent MHS Humbuckers, while some  like Classics & others choose any of several of the other Pickup choices…

You need to play as many as you can to find the ones that sound best to you.. If you live near a big City like L.A. a trip to to a store like Hollywood Guitar Center would be ideal…

Good luck
