Leonard McCoy
The girl having to manually wind guitar strings perhaps dreamt of a better job, but perhaps not.
duluthdan
Very cool. Classic 1960s film production, a near and dear topic and worth the watch. Good find !
pohatu771
Interesting to see the tops and braces labeled for their models. The one visible in the lower left of that sequence was used for the Hummingbird, Southern Jumbo, B-45-12, FJN Folksinger, as well as the Epiphone El Dorado and Bard (and presumably FT-98 Troubador, though it is not labeled). zombywoof
The first public factory tours at Gibson began in 1945 shortly after the end of WWII. While I have never seen any footage there are a bunch of photos dating to 1953. Apparently, as these tours evolved, they were loaded with minutiae with visitors learning how many individual parts it took to build a J200 compared to an LG2 and that every part and guitar was inspected over 300 times.
