KSG_Standard
If we just loved the jihadists enough, they would love us back. Anybody with half a brain knows this to be true! We should give all of the poor, misunderstood jihadists homes, cars, clothes and money and surely they would stop trying to hurt us. Besides, it's our fault that they are trying to kill us. That darn George Bush is sooo evil, this is all his fault!

We don't need to become them. The American actions have been a boon for recruiting for al-Qaeda and the torturing has only produced negative results. As long as America is viewed as the big pushy bully who will bomb and kill to spread its message we will not be regarded as any better than terrorists. It's not a matter of "coddling" terrorists, but torture only produces false information and more enemies for the US.
KSG_Standard
Your right grampa! We don't need to coddle the jihadis, but they've had a tough life and I feel that if we could just love them enough and and give them a comfortable life, then we could all be friends. What's wrong with being friends?

grampa
I believe that bin Laden came from a wealthy family, so he had no hardships to endure growing up. It may be true that most of the new recruits for al-Qaeda are poor and oppressed with nothing to lose and if their lives were better, they may not have turned out to enemies of the US. If we show the world that we don't practice what we preach, no one will trust or support us and our list of enemies will increase.
KSG_Standard
I like Dr. Pepper! I wonder if the poor, downtrodden Jihadis like Dr. Pepper? I'd like to take some to them and see if it makes them happy.

You have room for Abortionists, Gun Haters, Gay Marriage Advocates, the ACLU, NARAL, the UAW and the SEIU, you guys even found room for Trial Lawyers. But you guys don't seem to have any room for me...that's depressing. I was full of joy at my new found liberal/progressive beliefs, I was ready to do battle against the evil do-gooders, corporate thieves, capitalist pigs and evil traditionalists...now I feel lost... I was really into the whole idea of just spewing opinions with no logic or factual arguments to back them up. It's much easier to argue from your side...What to do?
