fortcon
Hey, I'm curious about the effect of swapping out the stock nut on a guitar to an aftermarket one, like a Graph Tech. I hear more and more about it, and lots of the pros do it. What exactly does it do?
Murph
It just pretty much sits there..... [-(/
DrJustice
In my experience an aftermarket nut is a good upgrade. There's a recent thread about it here. DJ --
DAS44
I believe it effects the ability of the guitar to absorb the string vibration.... softer= more cushion= less vibration into the neck harder= better energy transfre= more vibration into the neck

Bluemoon
I am not sure I would change it unless you are having problems. My stock nut got cut too deep and so I replaced it with bone. Seems to stay in tune way longer and the sustain is better when you play an open string.
