Big guitar companies have jumped on the bandwagon of pay to play. Basically the deal was I get guitars at 1/2 price. Fine ok, but they will NOT endorse me while I play MCS guitars. Give up my guitars just to get a pic on the Dean Website??? NOT GONNA HAPPEN PEOPLE!!!! Now I see 6 and 7 strings as different animals, Neal does too. Neal does not do 7 string imports. So, I have now struck a deal with one of Neals neighbours in CA called Halo guitars. They are going to send some flat black 7's and I as usual will give Jeff at Halo all the media / promo stuff that I can throw at him. Everyone is now happy. Dean? Well let them stew in their own juices. What I mean in essence is when it comes endorsements just be a little careful. When I play the states again I have backup guitars and promo covered, so do NOT necessarily approach big companies for gear. I was over the moon when Dean approached me but wow it was a crap deal. Be it being endorsed by a huge guitar firm; or signing with a label and producing music that is not really what they love. There was about a 14 years span I didn't play a guitar from 1989 to 2006' date=' so pretty much all my instruments were put away and untouched. It wasn't until my pal came over with a JL Rev Epiphone Casino, that I was just floored with the guitar in how it felt, which in turn re-sparked my interest in guitar and music for that matter. You may be too young to remember, but back in the late 70's and through the better part of the 80's, Epiphone guitars were soooo frowned upon by Sunset Strip Bands, and I was guilty of that.;) ..... It was all about Jackson, Charvel, Moser and Kramer. I wish I'd stuck with it a bit longer, but I had a career waiting for me, and the loss of two of my band mates (murdered) that I grew up with since grade school, just really took an emotional toll on me. When I was in Kettering this past October, I should have went outside and played in the rain[biggrin] Ya, it's definitely a small world.;) ..... It is a NON exclusive deal and Jeff from the company is a cool guy. It has been a LONG road for a 7 deal. Neal and them are neighbours. So I am endorsed now by two really cool companies in LA. Hmmm actually that sounds like showing off and that is NOT the point. My point is READ the deal before you sign guys.
