doctorproctor
Greetings -- I've been using the same Gibson USA medium black oval picks for decades, but now I discover that they are no longer manufactured, and I'm down to my last handful. Can anyone recommend where I could get hold of a bunch of them? They're approximately 24mm at widest, and about 29mm tall (see photo in my avatar). Thanks much -- Jim P. [/quote'] Welcome to the forum. I can't see your avatar very well, but are these what you're looking for? I can't get the link to the page for the pick to insert in my post. Type "Gibson Guitar Pick" when you go to the Musician's Friend website and it will come up. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/
doctorproctor
Thanks for your quick reply. These are the current manufactured shapes; the one I've used for ages is an oval, vs. what they call the "351-shape" and the wedge shape picks...Jim
LPDEN
Mike, the link didn't bring up an item, Just a general menu.... Never mind... I got it...
guitarstrummer
OK, I'm not sure they make those any longer. You might be able to check on e-bay to see if you can locate any. Otherwise, it might be time to change shapes. Here's another outlet for the ones they make now. For some reason I can't seem to get the link for the exact page to insert into my post. When you go to the Music123 website, type in "Gibson Guitar Pick" in the search box and it will come up. http://www.music123.com/
doctorproctor
Yes, I've searched all online distributors and contacted Gibson directly. My hope is that someone has a pile of these stashed somewhere and would be willing to work out a deal with me. (I've tried the current shapes, btw, and I still prefer the oval!) Other ideas welcome -- Jim P.

guitarstrummer
These aren't Gibson, but seem to be closer to the shape you're looking for. http://www.bizrate.com/guitarbass/products__keyword--fender+guitar+pick.html
guitarstrummer
I just noticed that Musician's Friend has some a little closer to the shape you're looking for, but they're Fender brand. If you go to the Muscian's Friend website, type "Guitar Pick 347" into the search box.

ballcorner
I can't find the picks for you, but I can offer some support. As a 25 year user of Ernie Ball yellow large thumb picks, I recently got close to running out only to find they are very difficult to locate anywhere near my current home. I had someone order them in - got 48 he said on the phone - I went in to pick them up and it came to almost $60. Yes, that hurt, but not as much as getting home to find only 43 in the bag. I hope you find your picks, and at a reasonable price.
retrosurfer1959
Yep good luck I had a thread earlier about Gibson Tri-Picks I must have several thousand pics in the house there everywhere my wife complains constantly about finding them in the washer (must remember watch pocket) and yet I can't find tr-picks anywhere it's as bad as Mooseguy and his never ending search for his Epiphone
GaryNull
Did you end up buying the Fender pics? I've been using and loving the Gibson's too. Down to my last 3 (bought around 1980 I think). What guage did you get? I saw this comment on the Reviews for the Fender pics: "I liked the Gibson heavy version but oddly enough the Fender medium is closer in thickness." Should I get the mediums? doctorproctor
Yes, I purchased the Fender 347 medium and heavy...I usually use the mediums as I used the Gibson mediums but occasionally I play with the heavies. Cameleye, thanks for the offer! You should hold onto them and get rich ;-)

BigKahune
Dunlop has a pretty good assortment of picks, here's a couple oval/teardrop shapes to check - each has 6 different thicknesses - http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=14&pmh=products/picks http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=15&pmh=products/picks >No affiliation,;I like the tortex triangles 73mm http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=10&pmh=products/picks
