Matt the Cat
Didn't know Epiphone built guitars in India. Don't think there will be too much info out there for this. No reason why you shouldn't love it tho'. Matt
dhanners623
Given that it is an "Epephone," with an e after the first p instead of an i, it would appear that it is a knock-off. I appreciate their attempt, though. Whether you like the sound is all that matters, though.
ksdaddy
India makes guitars such as Givson, Gibtone, Hobner, and Yemaha. This is the first Epephone I've seen though. I've never gotten the impression they're trying to pass off counterfeits though, the names are just a nod to the real products. Kinda like Bollywood I guess..... I've owned two Hobner archtops, both 16" cutaways. One was natural topped with rosewood(!) sides and back, the other solid black. Both respectable guitars with good tone and action but with some caveats. They are crudely made with ripples all over the sides from hasty bending, lots of wood filler that wasn't sanded much, and the cheesiest hardware in the world. I mean you can't even imagine how cheesy. I opted to not upgrade them though, they were cheesy cool and junky. I liked them. I've also had a smaller bodied Givson archtop that was actually pretty good too, but it arrived about the time I bought something else on ebay so I flipped it to get my $80 or $100 back. I've had a couple flat top Hobners too. So maybe I've had too many of them, or I've exceeded my quota anyway.

ksdaddy
You need to intern at Dell's tech support call center for a year first. This will help too:
Red 333
And I said Epiphones were too cheap to knock-off.. I see your confusion. The guitar in question is a knock-off of an Epophine. I'm going to build a harp guitar out of some bird's nest twigs now. I'll post pictures in, oh...a half hour. ksdoddy
mooseguy
Well at least no one accused this Epephone of being the son of my Esteban Now I can sleep better. Moose
drathbun
Well at least no one accused this Epephone of being the son of my Esteban Now I can sleep better. Moose Steve (Esteban) doesn't even play his OWN guitars! "My name eees Estaayban! I bugged a dying Segovia to give me a guitar lesson and now I sell thee insurance for deee Geiko!" Johnt
Boy am I relieved to learn this ! He needs a day off doesn't he? Moose Moose! Do you think that Doug is casting s light at the Great Masked one? If so perhaps he should be ceremonially thrown from the busom of the AIFPPGP? If comes as some relief to me Doug, that The Great masked one is regarded as a "guitar player" as opposed to the " Advanced luthier" that I have always seen him as. Just ask one of the polite people with a clipboard. I thought it was Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee. I'd check but but the Betamax version I have is worn out. mooseguy
Sir Albertjohn; For your privileged information, here in the US what is generally delivered in a plain unmarked envelope is your latest shipment of sex toys and/or your online viagra prescription. Now that this point is cleared up, thank you for pointing out that Esteban is a truly luthier extraodinaire. His latest late night offer including a combination amp-egg fryer is breath taking to say the least unless one has an advance case of halitosis. Respectfully submitted, Moose P.S. For Sir Johnt I thought you were presently visiting the strip clubs of Vegas - didn't expect you back for months

No brown envelopes for such purchases in £ sterling. Oh no. A flourescent green package with "Somethingfortheweekendsir?.com" emblazoned in large red lettering is what we get. A friend told me, you understand. Far be it for me to correct your last post sir, but I cannot take credit for the recognition of Esteban's many and great attributes. I think I must credit Sir Johnt (The Vegas Deportee) for this observation. Your devoted servant.
