deepblue
Jazz has been mentioned here a bit in the past few days. I have suggested Lenny Breau as a must listen... I do have a few of his albums, and saw a wonderful documentary on him. A true master. I surprised no one has mentioned him. Heres a taste. jaxson50
Lenny was really great, such an innovative player. Another guy you never hear about was Buddy Fite, if you ever run across any of his old records grab them! I found a clip of his playing, no video of him sorry;
TommyK
Breau.... sweet. I'm gonna have to come back to listen to the other two. I'gotta go burn some meat. Now this is what a Guit tar Forum ought to be.
milod
There have been a lot of really good jazz players... Mundell Lowe comes to mind, etc., etc. But I sometimes get the impression they ended up having to make a living some other way. m
sgman
I thought Andy Summer's comment on Lenny was right on the mark regarding having everything going for him, so why wasn't he a big star. He should have got more recognition than he did. An underrated genius on guitar was Lenny!
L5Larry
so why wasn't he a big star. Three things, drugs, alcohol, and the fact he was murdered. Any one of which can really hurt your career.
