reason for price drop

Anyone here know's the reason in the price drop of the SG standard?

I didn't know there was a price drop.

As far as i know, there hasn't been one. As a matter of fact, they are sold out at alot of places, because of the flood at the Gibson plant.

i noticed the price of the standard is going for USD1,199 compared to USD1,999 previously.

 

how are the current SG's build quality compared to the older produced batches? Have there been any quality issues - i remember reading it from some other forums. my main concern here is the neck joint.

Not sure where you saw that because they're the same price as always.

The SG Standard has never sold for $1999. That's the "List price". The "actual price" is $1,199. This way you always feel like you're getting a deal.

I remember when the standards were pretty close to 1999. I think it was a few years ago.

Maybe you were looking at the '61 ri which is $1999 (or something close).

 

When I got my SG Standard the going price was $1450. Pretty overpriced. My buddy got me a discount though and I got it new for like $800.
