Dino.
I have an older Epi Les Paul Custom (MIK) that needs some parts. Specifically ... (1) 3-ply pickgaurd - black (1) 2-ply jack plate - black (2) arched pickup rings (bridge and neck) - black (2) back cover plates (switch & control cavity) - black Hole spacing needs to be metric. Generic "Les Paul" parts will not fit. Thanks for your help.
jcwillow777
Do you have any of those parts? If you do and you want to change the color, you can have some made if you aren't able to make them yourself. I had a 335 style pick guard made for my Dot. He did a nice job. I sent him my pick guard and he matched up the holes perfect. http://www.terrapinguitars.com/ Stewmac.com sells pickup rings. If I remeber right they aren't arched, you would have to do the shaping. It's probably 15 years old and alot of these parts are worn, cracked, or warped and I'd like to replace them. I'm thinking sending them out to be made would be quite expensive and I really didn't want to have to fabricate or modify something to make it work. btw ... I believe the hole spacing on the rings sold by StewMac won't fit the Epiphones anyway. Epiphone doesn't sell parts for their guitars? Weird. Biff
Epiphone doesn't sell parts for their guitars? Weird. You can get some replacement parts through authorized dealers (in the US, I've heard). Which parts and where, I dunno.
jcwillow777
No they don't, which I don't understand. I bought a G-400 off ebay with a broken headstock to repair. The TRC was broken. I contacted my local Epi dealer and they said they could only get one if it was under warrantee. Well I bought a new G-400 from them about a year ago so I gave them that serial number. They said that would work. I'm still waiting. I think it is literally coming on a slow boat from China. I have replaced pickups on several of my guitar with GFS pickups. They come with pickup rings. They also have pick guards, and I think they have jack plates. I mis read and thought you meant the back plate on the guitar covering the electronics. You may have to do some filing on the pick guard, but for $6.00 who cares. Buy 2 in case you wreck one. http://store.guitarfetish.com/index.html
Whitmore Willy
Dino, Did the same thing on my standard. Got most of the parts from Stew Mac. had to do a little drummel work and then some sanding to get the pick guard to work. Got the rings off E-bay from bezdez. If you look up his store and then type in pickup mounting rings he has the curved ones in black and they are metric. If you are not sure, he does give the measurement. they were an exact replacement for mine. Remember, not all tops are arched the same. You may have to do some minor filing or hit it with a heat gun. I didn't. Also the shipping sounds expensive..$9.00 but he will combine orders and that gets them to your house in less than a week. Otherwise, Canadian shipping to the U.S. can take a month or more. The rings are only $2.00 so the total bill is about the same. He does have both neck and bridge. His volume and tone knobs are also metric if you need them. Hope this is of some help. I tried swapping the cream backplates for the black ones between my Epiphone Les Pauls and they didn't fit!
charlie brown
Well, I haven't tried "Gibson/Epiphone," for parts on their Asian made guitars, but they always came through, on the USA stuff...for my Kalamazoo Casino, and USA Sheraton, that I couldn't get through the dealers...._(no "stock," or wouldn't bother, that is). But, it wouldn't hurt to give them a call...it's tole free, anyway... CB
