gearhead
I would opt for the G400, but then again I'm an SG freak!
charlie brown
Both! G-400 has a bit easier access, to the upper frets, but they can both do all kinds of music. That's more about technique, and the ability of the player, than the actual guitar....IMHO. ;>) CB
brad1
Both. CB is correct. I have both, and they can both do it well. Just depends on what you prefer.
peeper
Do I want an apple or an orange?
midiman56
Do I want an apple or an orange? Really! I'd be hard pressed to think of two more DIFFERENT electric guitars. You really have to sit down and spend some time with both of those gits, Eppi ... let your fingers and ears point you towards the right decision for your playing style. Good luck! Caramello Koala
Both those guitars do what you want to do very well. The g400 is a solid body and has better access to the higher frets, so that will make it easier for leads, but the dot is a semi-hollow body guitar and has a sweet sustain.
