pohatu771
Gibson has introduced an almost-reissue of a guitar I'm quite fond of. Of course, it's about five times what I can pay for it, so could Epiphone hurry up and introduce their version? With the proper neck pickup, too... not just a P-90. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Custom-Special-Order-1955-Les-Paul-Custom-Wraptail-Electric-Guitar?sku=584507
rdsmith3
Well, you do get a 1955 certificate with it.
Rewddawg1
I don't know but it seems to me that Gibson is too hung up on the past and old designs, not that they are bad but what about 21st century designs besides a reverse V or the shark. It would seem to me that this philosophy restricts growth and potential buyers. it would be nice to see some innovation. Just my humble opinion. [/quote'] No. They're just overpriced marketing BS. They only one remotely useful is the midi LP. The 6DX.87 whatever the hell kinda gobbledy-gook name they gave it. But it's still on the order of $6K IIRC.
Rewddawg1
It doesn't seem to me that they are keeping up with the competition. I'm not familiar with all the models you stated AS90 but aren't they in the price range of $2000-$6000 which limits your market . IMHO
smips65
http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/ES/Gibson-Custom/50th-Anniversary-1960-ES-335TD.aspx Yeah, got my gibby newsletter too, sure would love one of these, but damn 5 1/2 grand? that buys a lot of modifiable guitars, that would come really really close I'm sure. markerdown
Dang that's nice, but for that price, I could buy a carload of epi's and a used toyota to haul them around ......................markerdown
Swoop
http://rockshop.co.nz/04/shop/product-full-page.php?code=EPIENC9EBGH If you can live without the wrap around tailpiece, you could easily modify that to be quite similar.
AS90
I dont really like the TP so a couple of years ago I had an old Orville LP Custom, I was thinking of blocking up the PU cavities and refinishing it myself to make one of these on the cheap...
