hotshot9991
OK ive finally started it, I got all the truss rod marks made, the pattern and everything , and I just rough cutted the blank with a jig saw looks a little crappy but im just gonna go over it again there's enough room without getting to close to the neck. The last thng absolutly im gonna need to ask you guys is when im doing the final outline of the neck ive seen people use spindle sanders to outline the final shape like this guy here-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x8v8WfgGJ4&playnext=1&list=PLF9E08C25B19513CD&index=3 go to about 0:54 but the biggest question I what to ask is I don't have access to a spindle sander is there anythign else i can use to do the final out line or do I absolutely have to have a spindle sander. ChanMan
He tells you in the video to use a file where you can't use the sander. In your case, that would seem to be the entire piece.

ChanMan
I was amazed at how much work he got done with the sander, given the intricacies of the piece. Something tells me this is one of those "sure looks easier when HE does it:" deals :). Good luck man!
pete c
if you have a drill press, you can get drum sander kits to use with it. go to www.grizzly.com or some other woodworking sites. the kits come with different sizes. the last one i bought was around 29.99. ChanMan
Yes sir. Notice the sanding drums in that pic? It may take some time, but you can do wonders with one...
Jeff-7
Be very careful when using it though, it's easy for one of those to get away from you and you could end up with a big divot in an area you didn't need any further work done on. ChanMan
AYE!!! Practice on some scrap wood first... but then, my experience tells me this is good advice when using most power tools...
