I first want to thank all you all on the Epi forums.....You all love your Epis, and say so and why...I also love my Epis along with my Gibsons.....

I had forgotten how good that some Epis are.....Anyways, I collect guitars, and my latest will be the Riviera P3, on sale, and with a free HSC......

I simply wanted to thank Epi for their great guitars, and thank the Epi members for reminding me that Epis are great guitars, usually at great prices......thank you; Damian.

You're gonna love it, Damian!

One of my favorite and most often played guitars. It's also the first semi-hollow that I truly bonded with ... it's just that good! Pics will be appreciated when you get it!

Here's mine:

Yeah, found them, should have posted that. Didn't notice the hsc listed as a free gift originally, I was looking for it under the description, thanks for the reply.

Damian,

I hope you enjoy your new P93. I believe I will be getting one as well. I've been agonizing and debating over what my next guitar will be for like a month and a half, and I think the P93 might offer the most "bang for the buck". Especially with the free case. I just hope they still have that deal going when I get paid next week. My choices are pretty much down to the P93 or an "Inspired by" 1964 Texan acoustic electric. Both are currently going for the same price, but I'm leaning towards the P93 with HSC. I hope you get a good one. Make sure to post pics.

All, I have been reading for a good six months in this forum about the choice between a Casino, Dot, Shari, or P93. I have learned so much for all of you and I have to agree with Damian, that the experience has made me more educated on Semi-Hollows and guitars in general. Thanks to all the P93 owners, BrianH, MidiMan, and Crust (sure I am missing some folks that have posted about the P93). All the past posts allowed me to come to the decision to buy a P93 on Turkey day. Got a great deal with free case at 15% off. The problem was my wife made me keep it in the box until last week. Not sure if that was GAS, need a new term for owning the guitar, seeing it in the box in the basement but not allowed to open it until X-mas. It was killing me every time I walked by.

Either way, I made it to x-mas and have not put it down since. I plan on modding it a little. Already replaced the Bridge to a roller from Guitar Fetish. Still debating the plastic pup covers. Also was looking to add a BigD varitone. Can't go wrong with it thus far. Perfect out of the box except for action. No issues. Love the P90s. Gets me the tone I am missing from the current collection of Les Paul Guitars.

Thanks all for this great forum.

Welcome DiveBomb.......the bridge replacement sounds like a good upgrade, as well as the BigD varitone..........

SuperSonic; the deal is good through January ( I believe )...I can't order mine until Jan 3rd.....M.F. buys in bulk, so, there should be plenty...Epi Limited editions still mean many guitars made; unlike Gibby LTDs...

This guitar sure seems to be popular......Epi makes some nice guitars.......

Thanks again for the pic MidiMan...

Guitar is coming by friday, will post pics....perhaps a youtube vid as well............

I have the P-3 now.....Flawless construction...Beautiful wine red finish...Perfect balance...Nice weight...Stunning gold hardware.

This is my first Bigsby guitar..I own three Strats, and guitars with other wammys...All my research is correct...The Bigsby stays in tune. The ability to wiggle up as well as down gives it a wonderful sound..

Epiphone Custom Shop does very nice work....I already wrote a new song on it, I'll post it in a day or two (a dry one track run)..The song will be on a new CD as a finished version..I'll post pics this evening as well...

I have a question; Why does the string tension seem so tight ?? Is it because of the extra string travel length ?? Also, is there info on truss rod adjustment ?? I want to start doing this myself; the neck could use lower action,

and this is my only issue with the guitar, other than I only have one of these beauties.......The P-90s are wonderful.....What a sweet guitar; my cats love it, and the Bigsby sound intrigues them.......

HNGD Damian, glad to hear you're so happy with it.

The "DO-IT-YOURSELF" thread compiled by member "animalfarm" and pinned to the top of the Epi Lounge section of this forum will help you regarding truss rod adjustments.

There is info on truss rod adjustments in the DIY section of this forum, and all over the Interweb, BUT, truss rod adjustments are NOT action adjustments (unless the neck is so severely out of whack that it adversely affects action). The truss rod facilitates keeping the neck straight under the tension of the strings. The action is adjusted by raising or lowering the bridge. You can also refer to your owner's manual.

BTW: Epiphone doesn't have a custom shop; only custom shop stickers.

Thank you....I've been playing for years...Now that I'm retired from work, I'm finally learning all about the guitars and amps I spent years using..I will study truss rods. I do know how to adjust the action.....Only custom shop stickers ?? Hmmm.......The string tension seems tighter than I expected; is this because of the longer string 'travel' due to the Bigsby ?? Or am I missing something ?

Blues 335, they're coming..my SD cards are full !!!!!!!!

Damian, I, too, have been playing a long time but only recently

(a little over 3 years) have been learning about how this stuff works. Since then, I've learned a lot about "set-ups", and minor (nuts, rewiring, saddles, etc.) repairs. I advise that you take forum advice with a bit of healthy skepticism, as there is, unfortunately, an endless supply of less-than-accurate advice. Being an experienced DIY-er, guitar stuff was pretty easy for me, although I would not consider myself an expert, for sure. As I have no experience with Bigsby-equipped guitars, I can't offer anything about what you "expected", string stiffness-wise.
