A friend of mine just came into possession of this gnarly old 60's off-brand hollow body electric guitar....it plays, sounds and LOOKS amazing. what is it??? I've looked and looked all over the interwebs and can't find a damn thing on it....its got no marking/identification/serial number anywhere i can see on the guitar at all. (THAT I CAN SEE) (totally non-Gibson)

any ideas??

/shrug beats me!

Nice one. I've never seen a Gibson Hollowbody with all the tuners on one side. Some of the other features seem unique to me as well.

****EDIT**** Until Thunder's post below. I amend my previous statement to read "I only RECENTLY have seen a Gibson Hollowbody with all the tuners on one side ." Hmmmm...

+1 on getting with Gibson Customer Service and enlisting their aid!

I think thats a japanesse shi-to made by cheep guitar co. back in the 60s...

J/K man ... dont have a clue... maybe with better pics (specially of the headstock).

Looks close to the Gibson Vegas High Roller guitar... but I dont know if that guitar is a reissue of a previous one or what, you can see one here:

Your instincts are correct, it is one of the many japanese freaky "copy but not a copy" guitars of the 60s and 70s

of unknown pedigree or questionable lineage.
