Supersonic
HNGD! Very sweet guitar. I've never used flatwounds either. I've heard they're really hard to bend. What do you think?

gypsyseven
I´m blown away....i played today for the 1st time my Casino with my band...unbelievable...with my Durham Mucho Boosto (set as an overdrive) and my lovely Fender Blues Deville 212 combo i get a perfect kinda Black Keys tone - amazing!!!The feedback isn´t that hard to handle as i thought. The clean tones are sooo sweet....hhhmmm....seems like i got a new 1st lady.... bonzoboy
The day I got my John Lennon 1965 Casino it became my favourite guitar.I haven't tried flatwounds on it as they usually don't come in extra or super light gauges as far as I know.I used to use flatwounds in the late 60s but as I started playing more lead I found that were difficult to bend and at the time only came in heavier gauges.I'm not completely sure but I believe by the time John and George got their Casinos they had switched to strings with a plain G,utilizing a trick used by Hank Marvin so that he could bend his strings farther. What they used to do back then was to buy a set of strings plus a super thin banjo string, they'd throw out the E 6th string and use the A for the E etc. and then use the banjo string for the E 1st.Back in the mid - late 60s this was a common practice as extra and super light strings didn't become popular or availaable 'til the early 70s. bonzoboy
I wasn't aware that you played mostly rhythm and also thought that maybe like many you were going for the authentic Beatle tone on your Casino.By the time John and George had switched to Casinos they had both stopped using the flatwounds and switched to light gauge roundwounds so in that case flatwounds wouldn't give you a real Beatle tone from your Casino. gypsyseven
Great to hear the first gig with it went so well GS <thumbs up>. It wasn´t a gig...i meant i played it at the band rehearsal...not with my "crappy" little amp alone at home...i find it always a big difference to hear new equipment when you play with drums,2nd guitar, bass etc. than alone at home...
