Why Gibson couldn't have just added three more frets....

Um, 23 frets ???? Hmmm.......I prefer 24 frets....Yes, it is restrictive........

The custom built guitar I'm ready to order has 22 frets....That will do.......

22 frets would even work.... I'm good with the access restriction because I've learned to deal with it by playing my Casino... I just bring my thumb over

Yup.....It's still hard with Les Pauls...To pull off fancy metal type riffing tricks way up there ( while recording ),

I have to capo way up to assist....I end up recording riffs that can't be pulled off live on a Les Paul....

Which is OK, I don't play live anymore anyways......

no issues with a les paul.... I can riff all day very comfortably anywhere on my LP's

... to the 6 string side of the EDS-1275 fret-board [cursing] ..... It only has 20 frets [confused]

Well I recall you recently saying you don't mind modifying a Guitar to make it playable for you.... Have a SG neck put on it [flapper][biggrin] More frets and great access!

Ah hell! I was hoping to see it! [crying] It could even be reversed.... Ya sure????[biggrin] I was thinking if you wanted to be creative ( Actually I think this is a cool idea) You could remove the neck pickup and have a block made that fits in the hole that has a fret board attached and spaced correctly for as many more frets as you like. You could also have a piezoelectric pickup embedded in it for an acoustic sound! Would be easy and completely reversible!!!! I think that would be awesome!!!!!

Actually you could even do the same thing and have a regular neck pick up embedded in it now that I think about it!

I might even have to do this as a Proof of Concept.... OK.... Pack up your guitar and send it to me and I will figure it out for ya!!!! Might take a couple of years though.....[biggrin]

My older brother would kill me if I did that [biggrin] ... But I like your thinking ...lol

He sold me the guitar under the conditions that I wouldn't sell it, nor hack away at it..... I have yet to tell him I changed the frets [biggrin] ....

My bro was cool enough to sell it to me for what he paid for it in 1978 ($500)..... I tried to give him an additional $1500, but he wouldn't take the cash...... Older brother hand me downs can be a good thing [thumbup]

When I was a senior in high school, you were still in middle school [biggrin] .... But I can say with certainty, we chewed some of the same musical asphalt.

Yea, that upper horn is beveled thin and pointy.

I do wish they had added a 24 fret inlay.

Glad to see Gibson is putting some emphasis back in the bevel work.... It sure was a lost art in the 70's [thumbup]
