ES-345 at Zzounds

Just found this over the weekend. Available around the 18th of August.

http://www.zzounds.com/item--EPIET45

Not sure if this is the only one that will make it's way to our country or not.

I am kind of pissed at Epiphone.

(Rant Time)

Making certain models available for certain markets(distributors, countries, etc.), while making sence to collectors or outlets that want to have a one-of-a-kind, kind of sucks for the everyday fan.

I have been keeping my GC card paid off since finding out the ES series were coming out. (I was thinking about the 1961 Casino Tremotone - VS, but i have a great '96 Peeerless Casino that is perfect)

I planned on buying an ES-355 and ES-345. (Hell, the 1961 SG Special P90 - AW is also on my radar along with the Wilshire Phant-o-matic)

I have e-mailed Epiphone and Gibson about availability. No answer.

I have e-mailed Guitar Center and Musician's Friend. No answer.

(I think I know why GC/MF did not get back to me. Looks like they got their quota with the Royales.)

But still, no information about these on the main site.(except for the Press Site page)

No leads on who the resellers are.

I think it is a plot to drive Epiphone Fans crazy (I really don't belive it's a plot, but what the hey)

(Rant Over)

My first guitar was an Epiphone in 1971 and have been a fan since.

I am now in the position to buy what I want (no real financial problems or wife problems (she still does not understand that each has it's own voice)).

I will buy what I can, and wait to see what I can pick up from E-Bay in a couple of years.

Most of my Epi's came from E-Bay anyway.

But when a new model is announced, there is nothing more frustrated than not being able to buy one.

Mark,

I must agree 100%! I think most of us will agree the current offerings are awesome and the quality as we speak today is excellent. The main issue is the territoral release and availability of many models ( Riviera reissue, 59 Dot reissue to name a few. ) OverallI am a very satisfied Epi customer but this one issue in particular is very frustrating!

I have one caveat...WHY didn't they put multi-ply binding, on the front of the ES-345, as

is standard spec, for the Gibson ES-345?! (multi on front, single on back) I mean, if they're

going to do this, why not do it (right) to spec, at least? Otherwise, they look good. Be nice

to see one, with the pickguard mounted, as well. ;>b Yeah, I know..."Picky, picky, picky!" (Smile)

"I" would change the tuners, to Grover Rotomatics, with kidney bean

buttons. I've never liked the tulip tuners, on Epi headstocks, for

some odd reason. I DO like them, on the less curvy Gibson headstock.

Weird, I know... ;>b

I totally for got that one. That only went to Canada and a small USA chain if memory serves correct.

I was looking at those Grover Rotomatics, and was wondering which would work/fit best for a LP . . . full-size or mid-size?

Would that be all the Epi LPs? The LP 100 I bought for my wife is constantly going out of tune. Perhaps the Standard Plain top I'm waiting on will have the Grovers on.

All of the Epi LP Standards, as well as most other non-entry level Epi's these days, come with Grover tuners now.

Most standard Epi LP Juniors (not the '57 reissues) and LP-100s come with crappy pressed-back tuners. These should be replaced forthwith.

There are numerous threads on this forum about tuner replacement with details ad nauseum - use the search function to find them all.

I recommend Guitar Fetish....

Okay back on topic since this thread has nothing to do with tuners......

I agree with you mgrasso, it is very frustrating that there is hardly any info on these upcoming releases. Many forum members, including myself, are already drooling over them. I really can't see Epi not having these new ES guitars readily available here in the US when they are released (whenever that actually is). It would be a huge mistake if they are not. I guess we just have to wait. It'd be pretty cool if Epi1 randomly payed this forum a visit to tell us more about these new models.
