Les Paul Selector Question

Hello everyone, I am new to Les Pauls and just bought an Epiphone Les Paul 1954 reissue in Oxblood and have a question about the pickup selector. When I have the selector in the center position and I turn the volume on one pickup really low I can't hear either pickup at all. Is this supposed to be like this or is something wrong with the wiring?

Yes, it's supposed to be like that. They are all wired like that. If either volume is turned down almost all the way, it cuts off the volume both.

You can have it rewired so each works independently. I have my LP and SG like this. It's just how I prefer it.

with "Modern" wiring anyway?

"3 way switch in middle, turn one volume down, BOTH pup outputs go down.

Wanna know why? Also Independent Volume Control wiring..."
