mac75
Guys, just picked up this 2011 Studio in Fireburst color. Looks great as is, I have thought about adding a pickguard, but originality is important too. Just curious as to why Gibson didn't put one on this model? Also would like to hear your thoughts on adding one or not. Thanks.v
BigKahune
. That's a pretty plaintop. Looks like it's got a bit of figuring in the one pic. I wouldn't put a pickguard on it, but that's me. As you've found out, a pickguard doesn't come with the Studio in fireburst - but I've got no idea what Gibson's reasoning is.
Guest BentonC
decisions, decisions. I happen to agree with BigKahune on this one (and, I almost always go for the pickguard), but the top on the guitar is a great plaintop. Show it off! pauloon
Im a traditionalist.......les pauls (imo)....are only les pauls WITH a pickguard/scratchplate....(somehow look incomplete to me without ) However..... if i ever?! buy one without said,i'd be buggered if i'd drill holes into a top like that! so i'm with, don't add one on this occasion... nice guitar. mojjett
You only have to look at how beautiful the finish is. IMO that's why there's no pickgaurd. It'll just hide the finish. I never considered putting one on my Fireburst. & I don't have any pick scratches after 5 years of almost daily use. BTW nice pics
