My three best buddies

Epi Rocks

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Here are the pictures, as requested [biggrin] I will supply more as my wife finds the time (she's typing this for me now, as she is quicker than me & a clever S**t(Paul said a F**kin' know all...I didn't want to type it, he made me #-o )

(The Boss) Just a note, I disagree with Paul's comment that I would disgree with "You can never have too many Gibson/Epiphones IMHO." As long as he keeps them in Great condition, always in tune & on rare occasions, he plays just for me...& of course I can have as many computers or Gadgets that I want (LOTS) [tongue]

See ya soon

Paul & Mrs Wife (Gillian)

Where'd you come across the Explorer with those fingerboard inlays? I've only seen the dots, just curious. Nice collection by the way and welcome aboard!

G'day Stickman,

The explorer originally came with dots. I had it changed to the block inlays just to be different. I also changed the control knobs from the gold plastic type to the gold plated metal ones with perloid tops. I like to personalize my geer. [cool] The bridge pickup is a Tesla plasma 2. (Very hot at 23 kohms). I kept the neck pup original. I'm debating whether I wanna put a Maestro vibrola on her. Haven't yet decided. [rolleyes]

She plays beautifully, has a thin neck profile and very fast action.

Thanks for enquiring and, it's a pleasure to be here.

Paul

Hi all. I'm a newbie as well. Not quite as far away as Australia but almost...New Zealand. I have bought a second hand 2007 Epihpone Wine Red quilted Les Paul Standard, Chrome tuners, no pickguard. Looks great.Serial number tells me it was born in the Gibson QangDao plant. Sounds great so far but I'm sure mods will be made at some time. I also have a Maton MS503 and Maton accoustic. Previous guitars have been Godins which were really well made and great to play but.....That's why I wanted the LP. Oh yes! and I have a Lanakai spruce ukulele which is fun to play for something different to do.

Hope I can learn some tips from the masters.

Ah yes, the wine red Les Paul, a real stunner! I think they look awesome with the gold hardware. Welcome to you as well!

Welcome, and congratulations on three excellent choices of guitars! But they're all solidbodies! You owe it to yourself to add at least one hollow or semi-hollow to the collection, and Epiphone makes some dandy ones (as you may have noticed).

Gillian seems to have good sense --- maybe she can help you pick the next one [thumbup] .

Hi Paul and others. Thanks for the welcome. I have posted the photo of my Wine Red Quilt LP. Not the gold hardware unfortunately but still a stunner. Would a pickguard improve it or not?? Wotcha think?

Walterego

Leave the guard off. Try some chrome control knobs as well, instead of the plastic ones.

Otherwise, looks good as is. [thumbup]

Hey there.

Thanks for the kind words, and yes, Gillian is a super cool.

I bought a Blonde 335 copy a couple of years back, wasn't an Epi and I modified it a bit. Just didn't work for me. Still have it in my care, but it now belongs to my daughter.

I feel more comfortable playing the solids however, those archtops are stunning to look at.

Gillian is really keen on the Vox SDC33 Goldtop, even if she can't play a note. I would

prefer the Epiphone LP or SG Prophecy GX. Mmmmmmmm!!!! [thumbup][thumbup]

Each to their own I say. [cool]
