Malchik Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I've looked over the SGs and the Standard now has a fretboard of Katalox. I wish Gibson would pick a species of wood and stick with it. It must get confusing for the builders. Also, the SG 61 now has "North American Rosewood". I guess this is what they'll be using on the historics as well. strat-o-steve Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Drop the "katalox" name....and call it Mexican Ebony or the spanish word for it....and people will eat it up :D This seems to be the first real suitable wood to replace rosewood, and keep the genuine-ish rosewood looks!
